We're experiencing gale force 9 winds!!!!!!!!
Wow! I just came back from filming the mega storm on the island. I was at the harbour and almost got blown into the water. Camera and all. Ha!
The shit thing is, I have to catch the ferry to the mainland at 18:00 o'clock, and it isn't going anywhere till the storm's over. Fuck, I might have to spend a night in this godforsaken place. How's the weather in Britain peoples? |
film it and send it to channel 4. they will make you rich baby!
|
Windy day over here too.I saw some hilarious scenes of people and their demonic umbrellas on the street this morning.
|
yes windy hear too. kinda like it actually. the river outside is slowly rising so that no one will be able to go anywhere soon.
|
It sure is a laugh. I saw an old lady standing on the dijk with her little yorkshire terrier on a leash, and it was airborne. The poor little bugger didn't look content at all! :D
Storms are beautiful. |
the thought of airborne yorkshire terriers is a funny one.
|
![]() It happens more often than you might think. |
is that you? thats not a yorkshire terrier but it is a funny pic.
|
![]() No. That's not me throwing dumbo. Here's another flying dog. Strange... |
You may think flying dogs are funny, but you should be careful. You could have someone's eye out with one of those things.

my godamn boss is sitting behind me reading a book while i bust my ass (not typing this obviously) doing his work! wish i could kick him but the police warned me. |
Thr Met Office site informs me that in my postcode the wind is currently a westerly 29mph.

haha!! kick the bastard!!! kick him!! |

Anyway, I love storms, and I am quite sure that umbrellas are living beings with a soul, and everytime the wind blows strongly enough they try to set themselves free from slavery. |
i broke my umbrella. boooo hoooo
|

but did it get turned inside out in a comedy fashion? |
yeah, people in cars were laughing at me!
|
well at least you spread some laughter.
|
mmmmm, then i had to open it at college to see how bad the damage was so i got 7 years bad luck!
|
what! you dont get seven years bad luck for opening an umbrella indoors do you? i thought that was breaking mirrors.
what would happen if you broke a mirror with an open umbrella? |
9 winds isnt even bad, one time i was walking to town, and the wind blew on me like 17 times, it was heaps windy, so dont complain about 9 winds!
|
I knew it was supposed to be bad luck to put an umbrella up indoors, but I didn't know that the type of bad luck was any specific than that.
|
Well actually, if you open a red umbrella indoors, the bad luck your recieve is
everytime you have an iceypole, and your at the last bit and you have to munch one side....the other side will fall off :( |
An umbrella, according to popular superstition, should never be open indoors or you will bring bad luck on all the people residing in the building. It is thought that this superstition originates back when the purpose of the umbrella was to act as a sunshade. If opened indoors the action may be construed as a direct insult to the sun, which was revered in many societies.
Umbrellas also have other superstitions attached to them, most often those that bring bad luck. It is bad luck to give an umbrella as a gift. If you drop an umbrella, do not pick it up. Instead, have someone else do it for you, or you will be the recipient of bad luck. If a single woman drops an umbrella, she will never marry. If an umbrella is opened outside when it is not needed, rain, and other bad weather, will follow. |

|
Okay, you can stay up a bit longer then, seeing as it's not a school night :D
|
aw sweet!!
I can rate about 15 more people on hotornot.com!! What a sick night this turned out to be |
Today is 12°C, WSW 17 mph with gusts of up to 29 mph.
|
In leafy Surrey:
cloudy 13°C SW (24 mph) Relative Humidity (%): 79, Pressure (mB): 1018, Falling, Visibility: Very good |
Today across the Wirral has been a tale of shop signs down, people being hit in the face by flying litter, villages closed off to traffic, cats looking for shelter, wheelie bins scattered across roads, debris falling from rooftops, traffic ceasing and many people moaning like pussies.
|
Tell me about it! I'm still at work on the island, and it doesn't look like I'll be sleeping in my own bed tonight. It's really bad on this side. The ferry has been docked. Gale force 11 winds and the roof tiles are shaking bigtime!
|
What island is it? It sounds very pleasant, working on an island.
|
![]() It's called Texel, and if you look carefully, you can see the trail that the ferry leaves behind, when crossing from the mainland. I generally have a pleasant trip with a cup of coffee and the daily newspaper, but not today... |
