I haven't found Body/Head interesting yet, but maybe if they get bit more focused I might like it.

Anyway, I'm excited for this Body/Head release. In my opinion, their releases so far haven't really sounded like one of their shows. Maybe I should give them another listen. |
Any idea where Kim got the green sunglasses?
My wife has a birthday coming up and would love to give her some like these. ![]() |
yeah...those are some kcikass shades.

Body/Head is excellent to skronk to while eating lunch in a University dining area.

Body/Head – 'Coming Apart' double LP / CD – coming September 10 ![]() ![]() Initially their approach was almost entirely instrumental - lattices of interwoven feedback rainbows, with bits recalling everyone from Heldon to Keiji Haino. They usually performed against a backdrop of slow-motion film projection, creating a dream narrative of undeniable power and visionary reach. Kim's voice began creeping into the mix soon after, and the vocals now have become an intrinsic part of their musical architecture. They have even started writing and playing "songs" now, compositionally distinct from their purely aleatory origins, but still featuring lots of built-in improvisational space. Body/Head have thus far recorded a single for Dennis Tyfuss' Ultra Eczema Editions, a tour EP for Nace's own Open Mouth Productions, and released their collaboration with Morley through Feeding Tube Records. Their next release , 'Coming Apart', will be issued as a double LP/CD/digital album by Matador Records on September 10 (September 16 in the United Kingdom and Europe). Pitchfork caught up with the duo recently to film a +1 session, featuring live performance and interview. Preorder 'Coming Apart' from The Matador Store. |

I think they are extremely focused on what they are doing. |
Maybe it´s just my poor ability to use computer, but I can´t find any link of that new song in the article. Interesting article though.

It's embedded between the introductory paragraphs and the beginning of the interview itself. Above "JESSICA: What was your first apartment in New York like?"
It's also here: http://www.bodyheadmusic.com/ |

Yeah, it worked in my own computer. Great, better than anything I`ve heard before from Body/Head. Now I really wait also the album! |
Thanks for alerting me to the Actress preview, sounds great! I found that you can also see the track listing and preview samples from all songs on the Coming Apart album on I -Tunes. A couple of interesting sounding longer songs as well as more 'usual' length songs like 'Actress'. Really looking forward to this album release in a few weeks time……..

The pre-orders shipped today!

Shit. Sounding real good. I didn't even bother to buy Lee's album and Chelsea Light Moving have a few quite good songs. But this is the real deal, definitely the most interesting post-SY project thus far.
|
God. The Last Mistress rocks. Interesting track title as well, incidentally, with lyrics about territorial markings.
|
This is as great as I wanted it to be.
|
That Huffington interview was shit though.
Such boring questions |
I liked it a lot after giving it a couple of listens last night. The use of feedback on ''I Can Only Think of You In Abstract'' is a great opener for the album and there are some excellent ideas all over the place. I'm not 100% fond of Kim's vocals but then again I have never been. They suit the various atmospheres on the record and I am quite happy for that. This is the only SY-related release since ''The Eternal'' I know I will listen to over and over again.
|
Seems that interviewers get too intimidated to ask Kim good questions. That, or every interviewer is a dunderhead.
After a couple more run-throughs, "Last Mistress" is the stand-out track. There are some moments on the album that put me in the "A Thousand Leaves" state of mind, which is always a plus. |
I need to hit the record store as soon as I get my turntable back!

I did try to stream the album but it kept pausing, I've now decided to wait and hear it when I receive the vinyl. I'm sure it's going to be one of my best albums this year.

I'm gonna wait too
Body/Head next week Jim O'Rourke this week Yoko Ono in 2 weeks Turning out to be a big year |
To SonicBebs, that is old school. I don't wait anymore, I don't always rush to get a new album, but I generally catch the stream when its "leaked" or in more legitimate instances "previewed". I can't help it, I come from the gutter and if it is even remotely shady it somehow always attracts my interest, even if its streamed by the band and perfectly legit, it somehow still feels slightly pirated ;)

The album is so-so.
