Aye. As has been said previously here, Derek Bailey last year, James Brown this year. If we keep losing legends around Christmas, then I think we should just abandon the holiday. Fuck it, the piss ups and presents aren't worth losing legends.

I heard about this BEFORE I opened my christmas presents. I was really bummed out until I opened up my frasier boxset.

My band has a funk intro to a song called "Carnie" and we say "I got ya" at the beginning of it. It came from when James Brown was on stage and heard a guy mess up in his band, he would yell that and fine them after the show. I'll make sure to play that one on Friday for the Mr. Brown.

Every time he came through town, the show was sold out. Fast. Blew me to no end, and now I'll never get to see him.

Yeah, well, people die all the time, don't they? I'm supposed to mourn James Brown? Or Gerald Ford? I didn't even know the fuckers. I'd feel sadder about my dogs dieing.

I could give a rat's ass about Ford. But Brown kinda got me. Especially for it to happen on Christmas, of all days. Just seemed sort of fitting.
