Xiu Xiu...
I'm just hearing Boy Soprano again (first saw a live video of it from a while back... before the album was very far-along) and I am quite impressed. When i get some money.. buy The Air Force? or get older stuff i still don't have first?
|
hayden would tell you to get knife play first, i guess. i say get the air force, it's fantastic.
read an interview i did with mainman jamie stewart: http://oscillatorzine.blogspot.com/2...w-xiu-xiu.html |

silly you! I have Knife Play, and after reading that 'view on my own wishes was when i re-heard BS. (I have KP, CotC, and AP) |
ps: there are mp3s from each of their main full lenght albums at the end of the interview.
|
well, why don't you be a little clearer next time? i hear good things about live and life, so i say get that.

Yeh, i just listened to Bog People (cos i don't have LF... came really close to buying it when i was first getting into them a while ago... i think it was an import though....?) |

I may just do that. I think the localrecord store has it.. but i also think it is ridiculously priced... i could always order it... |
They are ok but nothing i've ever been too keen on.I wont slag them off but neither think they are the greatest thing ever because they aint.
|
live and life came out on an european label (explaining the high price), la foret came out on 5rc.
|
Life and Live is fantastic. My favorite band ever.
Get the records in this order: Knife Play A Promise Air Force Fabulous Muscles La Foret Life and Live is probably my second favorite release of theirs. All the eps are wonderful too. Especially the newest one, tu mi piaci. La Foret and Fabulous Muscles aren't necessities if you don't have them. They rarely get spun by me. |
I'd still like to get them, cos i am a bit of a completist of bands i really like (or are easily found that i sorta like).
|
fab muscles was the one that turned me into xiu2
|
(I'm off for a while. Catch'a on the flip-side, fellas)
|
Can anyone post their cover of "Don't Cha". Been wanting to hear it for a while and can't find the ep in stores.
|
It's called the INTERNET.
just kidding I don't have it on this computer but I could send it to you when I get home. Send me an e-mail at hayden_asche@hotmail.com. |

I knew someone was going to say that. To be honest, I want to hear some of it to see if it is worth buying. After La Foret, I was a bit disappointed. But yeah, I'll email you later today. |
Could i also take part in that offer, hayden?
|
Sure, krackhead.
|
Alright, bro. I'll get that e-mail sent pronto.
|
I have La Foret, and I think it's great. Want to buy Fabulous Muscle as well, Luv the Valley OH! are fantastics.

the same. a fucking awesome song followed by even a more terrific one. |
In all the threads I've seen about Xiu Xiu, no-one has ever mentioned Ciautastico!, their collaboration with Larsen. As a Larsen fan I'm not too keen on it, I find it too "poppy". What do Xiu Xiu fans think of it?
|
I just got the Air Force, and I can't stop listening to it, it's so good. I think Fabulous Muscles is still my favorite by them though. I'm going to see them on the 16th!
|
I like fabulous muscles but I haven't heard that much of Xiu Xiu though I LOVE the band.

i've been meaning to check xxl out, that release made me explore important records and in turn, introduced me to ocean.
so is regular larsen any good? |

One Italian music journalist described them as "an italian-cult-collective-urban-folk-ritual-experimental soundscape-wall of love band”. I'd call them Godspeed without the pretentiousness, or drone rock with classical instrumentation. Some stuff to try (MP3s): Rever (from Seies) Marzia (from Seies) One (from Play) Two (from Play) |
thanks man!!!
italy is coming out with awesome bands lately. |
