Who makes the best beer?
Seeing as there's a thread elsewhere has gone wild over beer, it seems a good topic for a poll...
As an ale drinker I vote for Great Britain. For non-ales I'm not sure whether I'd go for Belgium or Germany. |
shit. i voted "other" because i was just thinking about lager (czech lager), but i should have voted british for ale.
|
Who makes the cheesiest cheese?

I voted other becuz personally, as a homebrewer, I think I do. I'll take my own Belgian dubbel over anything on the shelves, and my 2-Hearted Ale (an IPA) clone is sooo sweet and heavy.
|
french cheese, although i am partial to a bit of red leicester, wensleydale or cornish goat's cheese
|
Well, I took other only becasue I like Baltika more than anything else. The Dutch know what they're doing too though...
|
The Czech make the best beer, although being Slovakian, I envy them big time.
Therefore, I voted "other" |
Gret Britain makes the best 'real ale' types of beer, but if we're talking lager then it's either the Russians or the Czechs.
|
lager pilsner urquell (czech)
other : dunno. |
Of the countries known for beer making, I have to give the nod to Belgium.
|
edit: ale GB.

good choice! I had some of that yesterday. It's really good, although I went with German |
Amsterdam aka the Netherlands.. aka Heineken.
i went on a tour of the Heineken Brewery in Amsterdam, t'was like Homer Simpson going to the Duff Factory. fuckin brilliant |
Don't forget Poland, it's a secret gem...lagers like Ziwiec, Tyskie or Lech are just way superb!
|
Good nomination for Poland. Poland are very good at drinks generally, I think; the best cordials (esp. raspberry), smoothies, mineral water, vodka, lager et al).
|
(and they have the most gorgeous looking women in the world)
|
The ones I've met (ie about a dozen people) all seem to be terribly nice people aswell. Absolutely lovely.
|
i used to live with a half polish girl, she was quite ugly and very annoying, but her mum who was fully polish was quite attractive and more charismatic
|
Your mother.

Czech Republic!
They really deserved to have been included in the list... |

ok, hi, i'm emmanuel.
i have always wanted to post in those threads where you introduce yourself, but always felt too lazy to do it. maybe one day. |
![]() ![]() And do not underestimate this baby: Yanjing beer (Chinese: 燕京啤酒; pinyin: yānjīng píjiǔ) is a malty, smooth lager beer from China. It is the most commonly available beer throughout Beijing, is the official state beer of China, and is one of the major sponsors of the 2008 Beijing Olympics. The beer was first brewed in 1980, and continues to be made today. It is also exported to countries around the globe, including the United States and the United Kingdom. The beer is manufactured by the Beijing Yanjing Beer Co., Ltd. Today, the Yanjing Beer Co. covers an area of 2,220,000 m˛. The company has approximately 20,000 employees, and is the largest beer manufacterer in China. They produced 1.41 million tons of beer in 2000 alone. In Beijing, Yanjing is widely available in restaurants, but is not generally available in bars and nightclubs. Because of Yanjing's low price, bar owners claim that they cannot make enough of a profit selling it; thus, they stock Tsingtao, Zhujiang or foreign brands of beer instead. |

nice to meet ya mate. welcome to the world of twisted yoof fans |
Lager: I forgot to mention China. Tsing Tao is lovely, possibly my favourite.
|
anyway, i like german beers. full flavoured and crisp tasting and some of them you get a slice of lemon. i am not a beer specialist by the way. i do like bitter and real ale though. some japanese beeris very nice and guiness also.
|
i'm going to vote for belgium
why? ![]() |
I don't suggest any of you try this, because it was NOT good. Of course this may have been because it was stale. Anyway, its beer from Uzbekistan. Man, the Uzbeks know how to drink too. Freakishly can handle a ton of alcohol.
![]() This and the beers I pictured earlier are beers that fly around my neighborhood. |

Heineken...fuck that shit! Pabst Blue Ribbon! Pardon me, but it had to be done. Heineken tastes like a flat Beck's. Pilsner Urquell is another crispy good 'un. AMerican microbrewqs dude, you left out Saranac. I love Brooklyn Beer though. That's a nice mention there. I don't really care for Sierra Nevada, but I haven't tried that Christmas deal. I buy too much Sierra Nevada because it's the only good beer that the 7-11 down the street sells. Ireland...Guinness Stout, people! England...Bass Ale, bretheren! These are your champions! |

heineken? tsing tao?
until you guys start delving into the belgian ales you really don't know... ask gmku if you don't believe me |
I voted for Great Britain (obviously) but I must also doff my e-hat to the Eastern-Europeans, Belgium and Fritz.
|
I thought that beer was meant to taste vile but it makes you drunk and ale is generally drunk by old people and non-drinkers?I went for Ireland as i enjoy Guinness because it's full iron and i permanently lack in it.

I had the same temptation. You followed through with it...Bravo! Bravo! ____________________ Ireland...Guinness Stout, people! England...Bass Ale, bretheren! These are your champions! |
