What I do if it's difficult is turn treble and mid down to 0 and bass to full on an equalizer and it works like a charm! |
I like the understated but rumbling of the bass on 'Starpower'.
'Sleeping Around' has a well groovey bassline. And great drumming to accompany it. |
Death Valley 69 and Macbeth come to mind.....
|
The Burning Spear is simplicity at its finest.
Kool Thing's middle section always gets me. Protect Me You is creepy and minimal (good job on bass, Lee) Waist comes to mind. A nice descending line. Catholic Block for its sheer harmonic fucked-upness. Riding C# when the key is F# in the main section adds much tension. The Good And The Bad with that fucked up Gang Of 4/pseudo disco feel. |
burning spear is really cool, but my fave is theresa's sounds world, in the heavy section it goes completely insane...
|
the good and the bad
inhuman death valley 69 making the nature scene |
i gotta go with Youth aganist Facism.....as simple as it is, i love it....extremely powerful and fuzzy as hell
|
youth against facism
mildred pierce |
Making The Nature Scene
its really easy to play, too |
Quote:
Do you mean C? If F# is the key then C# is just the fifth, wouldn't create much tension at all... |
I love sleeping around its a great song and has Lee ever played bass on any other SY songs
|
protect me you
brave men run bone bull in the heather inhuman the diamond sea mildred pierce youth against fascism sugar kane there's bound to be more, oh yes, there's more |

I like the bass line in brave men run and The Burning Spear.

The entire CIS/KYI.

CHOUT is totally right. Also what's cool is when the bass moves up to D for the first jam. It's like a deceptive cadence.... |
The Good and the Bad
Shoot Skink |

Shit, you're both right. Never listen to me. I forgot about it in the context of the song. |
my fav bazz linez
the good n the bad burning spear i love her all the time (so simple, but it holds the song together) youth against facism bone kill yr idols shoot or JC... i froget which one, maybe both. |
I was gonna say Bone too, but I think I read Kim is playing a guitar. That's a great part though.
|
yea, it's on my list of things to learn
|
Androgynous Mind is pretty fucked up and cool. Kim is playing high notes that almost sound random, then hits a few lower notes with distortion on then back to the higher notes.
|
androgynous mind (love the "start/stop" bass line)
|
doesnt lee play bass on one of the ep tracks?
|

I wouldn't be surprised. Kim played drums for a few songs I think |
I really like the part where the bass kicks in on "Bull in the Heather". But usually the bass is just about the last thing I'm concentrating on when listening to the yoof. Well, other than the lyrics.
|
death valley '69!!!!!
|
btw... "Hey Joni" have a great bass line at the end!
|
Shoot comes to mind immediately.

Yeah, it's maybe my fave. |
I found this old thread and wanted to ressurect it. Interesting to note that when I first started listening to SY, one of my fav songs was Wish Fulfillment, because of what I thought was the bass line. Then I heard that Kim was playing guitar. So, is that bass line guitar or is someone else playing it? Whoever it is, it's my all time fav. So random and hitting every note but the root notes, but it sounds soooo good.
Stones, Rain on Tin, Dirty Boots, Teenage Riot are some of my other fav's to play on bass. I love the way Kim slides up to notes, kind of like the Sugar Cane line. |
Shoot, Titanium Expose, the end of Expressway, the list goes on.
|
The bass on Dude Ranch Nurse is really melodic. Not sure if it's Jim or Kim.
|
shoot
plastic sun brave men run |
Helen Lundeberg
|
Sugat Kane
My Friend Goo (it's super easy, but....) Shoot |
