Should I spend 25 bucks on Blonde on Blonde?
Simply Vinyl, 180 gram, new reissue. Looks delicious. I already have a 1980s-era pressing whose vinyl is NM.

yes
|
no!
|
Yeah, I'm beginning to see the light. I did this for Trout Mask, actually, but only cuz my first copy has some annoying surface noise. There's nothing wrong sonically with my BoB copy. The cover's just a little weird looking, like I said, like it was printed too light.
|
Go for it, man. You'll only regret not getting it.
|
If you have a M- copy already, I would get something you haven't heard before.
|
Steal it.
|
What I've learned so far today, from talking w/ the store owner, is there's another new reissue floating around out there on the Sundazed label that's the original mono mix that's been unavailable for years. That would seem to be the one to get. This one on Simply Vinyl, he thinks, is stereo. Still not a bad find, but since I can't have everything I want, I might hold out for that mono copy to show up.
|
Man, definitely go for it. I love Blond on Blond. It's one of my favorite Dylan albums. If it's in good condition, then you'd be fucking crazy NOT to get it.
|
Nah, not if you already have it.
|
Hold out for the mono.
Simply Vinyl reissues are fantastic, but you will at least be able to hear it in a new way of you get the mono version. |
What's the difference if you already have the original pressing?
And why you put two capital B's on Bob? Both serious questions that I need answered. |

HAHA.
Now for the other question. |
Get the album! Do it! Do it now!

My warehouse eyes, my Arabian drums
Should I put them by your gate Oh, sad-eyed lady, should I wait ? i dont know how the hell that turned into a link! |
There are two sides to my opinion. On the one hand, my gut says it's an unnecessary buy and a waste of money, since you have it already. On the other hand, I would still get it (if I cared about vinyl and was as big of a collector as you are, that is.)
So, my answer: No, don't get it. But enjoy it when you do. |
Nearly 80 per cent of you advised I should get the album.
I took your advice. It's great. Not only do you get 180gm vinyl but you also get the originial 9-photo layout in the gatefold--meaning those banned photos are back in the layout! It is, after all, #5 on my list of all-time favorite albums. If I can't have more than one decent copy of my favorite albums, then I can hardly call myself a serious collector. |
if you're happy with it i suppose it was a good buy then.
|
dont do it!
|
I know it seems indulgent on one level. But my rationale is that I like owning really good pressings of my favorite albums, and this feels authentic--has not only the original photo layout but also the famous mistake in the typesetting of "Stuck Inside of Mobile with Thee" on the gatefold.
And it's not like I would ever spend hundreds (or even just 100) on a first-pressing of anything. |
That's only 13 GB pounds (I wish I had a pound symbol on this keyboard). That's less than you'd pay for a full-price CD in the UK. So if you hadn't already then I'd say go for it.
|
authentic?
thats anything but. |

Semblance of authenticity. Replication of original packaging and mix, etc. Fake authenticity. Don't ask me to explain more than that, becuz I know it's ridiciulous. |

Seriously? Wow, that's a little pricey for a CD these days, isn't it? Most newly reissued 180gm records in my neck of the woods go for between 12-18 US dollars. That depends on the reissuing company, the release, and the store, of course. For example, I paid 18 last year for a Four Men w/ Beards reissue of Marquee Moon. Recently I paid around 14 for a Rhino (I think?) reissue of Television's Adventure. I was willing to go more for Blonde becuz it is special to me, and the repackaging is so nice. Simply Vinyl does a superb job with these things. |

to get the pound symbol (£): Press and hold the [ALT] key Type 0163 on the numeric keypad on the right Release the [ALT] key to see the symbol. |

Thanks but I'm on a laptop and that doesn't work. Any other ideas? Or I'll just have to keep writing "pounds". And yes CD's are VERY expensive here. I very rarely buy from shops for that reason. You can get them a lot cheaper if you are prepared to look, and wait for delivery. |
