Yes....do Poland. It would be a good excuse to go to Poland and less boring than seeing sonic youth in Briston Academy or somewhere like that.
|

Come to Willmar and play 80s shit.
|
"eastern" europe (which is middle by the way!!!) is calling! I'm voting for PRAGUE! But don't forget on Ireland as well!!!
i'd like to know how the whole business around tour working (bye, bye roling stones, no dublin no?, **** promoters and whole their business! {i'm not roling stone fan}) |

Ireland please.
Play Electric Picnic! Steeeeeeeve, Gang of Four are on the Lineup! Sold yet? :) It's by far the best run festival in the country and it would be brilliant to see you guys at it. |
austria
or prague or munich |

|
Hm Croatia, maybe...! You haven't been here for ages. Or, at least, visit Slovenia. They are near...
|
yeah, we are near ;) zagreb would also be fine for me ;)
|
Prague, Bratislava, Vienna, ...even Hungary or Poland or Croatia....
I would go and see them play anywhere. It's just a bit too far for me to travel to France or The Netherlands for a gig. Middle and Eastern Europe needs Sonic Youth!!! |
belgium?
|
Portugal...
|
Ireland Please, And Not Just Electric Picnic!!
|
it has already been said, but I'll repeat it.
ITALY! c'mon, we know it's one of you favourite places......... |
eastern Europe will be appreciated!
|
how about Poland tho.
Krakow, Visla, what else does one man need? |
You want them to play in the Visla? They may not appreciate the wet and the cold.
They should do Poland. I would probably travel to Krakow to see them it's that nice. Would beat seeing them in Brixton Academy or someplace like that. |
right on, mate, i know what you're talking about.
i heard visla has boat or two. |
yo, krakow is hilarious, been there last summer.
Speaking of Poland, I prefer Wroclaw though. Much more friendly I guess. |
hmmm.... in the real world, the band will have a booking agent. the booking agent contacts promoters and promoters contact booking agents. the band wouldnt really hand pick the cities they wanna play.
so the best way for you to get sonic youth to play in your city is to get up and g harrass local promoters to put sy on. if the promoters think that the band will go down well n the city or town and that they will sell enough tickets then im sure they will put the band on. or if promoters want none of it then you could always get a few mates together and put the work in and book em yourself. if youre that sure that sonic youth will make enough money in your city to cover the costs and pay them their fee then you are laughing. you just need to DO IT YOURSELF! admitidly, sonic youth are a big band, so its a not the easiest task, its for sure a fuck load harder than whining about it here. but theres always the same thread when some smaller band is touring, like the bands that tour and play to less than 500 people. always people moaining "pleaseeeee come and playyyy hereeeee" just put your energy into asking a band to come to your town, hiring a venue, giving them your sofa to sleep on, making some posters and it all goes like that. cuz i think its safe to say that bands dont come to this board to see where they should play on their next european tour. but bands do rely on people with a passion for music and a little spare time to put in some work and help them play their music in foriegn countries |
so except sy fee (?) pay also for transport of sy members + their crew + their equipment + accomodation + for a rent of venue + posters + all them little things going along, when organizing whole thing. g....seems to be a lot of money for a simple working citizen to do it....you would need a loan, strong nerves and knowing that people will come, so you can pay all back....it would be fun doing it tho!!!! i don't have idea what numbers we are talking about. AND real promoters doing it because of profit, so after all costs there still must be a profit....g can you imagine?....(different story with festivals, isn't it?). i would do it without profit, knowing everything will works out fine, just to see sy play in "my" city.
|
exactly. if i put on a gig, i want no profit, its nice for the band to buy you breakfast or something, but i just hand over all the cash. and as long as you have the capital( which i realise most people here would lack for a band as big as sy, me included) then you WILL make it all back and be able to pay more than the band fee. it just takes determination, capital and a little hard work.
i realise its quite difficult to put on sy unless you got a load of cash, but i was more refering to the people who post there whining whenever a band they like doesnt come to there city. the only reason they dont come is because people waste their time moaning about things instead of doing them. im not getting at everyone here, because im sure most people have very fulfilling lives outside of the internet, but it seems more than a few think that this board is the only thing to talk to, the only thing that needs any effort and the only thing that matters and if you moan on it enough, youre wishes come true. i really like chabibs sum-ups of each section for the board, they crack me up- they are so true. |
well, i'm still rooting for poland.
