Recommend me a horror film to watch tonight
... and ideally why.
It doesn't matter if I've already seen it but it's obviously best if I haven't. I've seen a lot but tend not to be that up on asian horror and have ignored most of the recent hollywood remakes. I'm up for anything though, even if it ends up being one I haven't seen in years. No lists (Adam) just one film (and none of the F 13th ones, please) that I can watch tonight. If I dl it soon, it should be ready by midnight at the latest. |
Go for "Rec". Why? Because it's short, but very intense, extremly frightening, and, curiously enough, very entertaining. And it's Spanish, so you'll experience no Asian nor Hollywood clichés.

Fantastic! thanks, dl-ing [Rec] now. Still time for more recommendations.
|
narrow it down buddy. I can name hundreds for you.
Or: Night Of The Demons starring Linnea Quigley. |
The Wig.
![]() don't watch it. It's terriblly gay. quite litereally. |
![]() |
rosemary's baby
why? i just watched it. it's creepy. it's friday the 13th. i'm satan. |
Ill bet thers a frday 13 marathon on tonight
|
MANIAC.
Because it's the best slasher film ever. ![]() It's in my top 10 films, ever, period. |
Silent hill
|
Cabinet of Dr. Caligari
crazy tones, freaked out weirdos, ancient silent movie,. Lots of fabulously deranged images for the hallucinegnic mind to rotate and savor (I stick with old classic horror movies, cuz the newer ones gross me out with the gore) |

Good choice that. It's a while since I watched it and I do have it on VHS so it's a no brainer in that sense. Quote:
No, I'm not narrowing it down because, if I had, you probably wouldn't have recommended me Night of the Demons which I'd not even heard of until now and with Linnea Quigley in it immediately places it at the very top of my list. DLing now. |
Hellraiser II
|
eyes without a face
![]() because georges franju rules |

some good choices from all so far, but the Quigley factor in Night of the Demons is proving very strong indeed.
|

hells yeah. One of my favorites. Seriously. 10/10 in my book. Maniac is indeed great. And scary. Hellraiser II sucks. Hellraiser is a 10/10 for me also. But most of the sequels are shit. |
Eh. If you want some prime Quigley, I'd do
![]() cuz then you get vannah white too! (and this is only if you can't find SORORITY BABES IN THE SLIMEBALL BOWL-O-RAMA) |
she's barely in Graduatin Day. And it's not nearly as good a movie as Night.
|
Night of the Demons is so boring. People walking around for 90 minutes. That's the entire movie. I'd rather watch SPOOKIES
![]() if I want to watch some unlikeable assholes walking around one place forever. Lipstick scene is cool, and the sequels are entertaining enough but yeah. |
yr fuccin' high!! Night Of The Demons is amazing. Graduation Day is way slower paced anyway.
|
The line-up so far is looking like
Rec, followed by Night of the Demons (with weed). I've got my ever faithfull Lifeforce on standby, just in case, of course. |
What? GRaduation Day is in constant motion -- there's always something going on. Nothing happens in Night of the Demons until the end, except the lipstick thing.
on the other hand ![]() night of the demon (1980) is quite good. |
demonrail lemme know what you think of NOTD. I think Dr. Eugene ended up loving it.
|
LIFEFORCE is a good choice, though.
|
I was really into "The Orphanage"
GUillermo Del Toro's film. It was beautifully shot, just creepy enough, and in my opinion became a classic. Maybe alittle slow at times, but I enjoyed the pace of it. |
we'll have to agree to disagree. But I"m telling you i love NOTD and have watched it MANY times. I've also seen Grad Day MANY times, and don't find it nearly as enjoyable.
|
Quote:
I thought that was NOT DelToro's film? |
Yeah, you can't argue with Lifeforce. Well you can, but not with me.
|
![]() no one's going to argue. |
hahahaha
|
Fuck! ETA for NOTD is currently 19 days! I'm just hoping the right people start going online in the next few hours.
|
It's a sign.
|
I want to watch MANIAC.
dl'ing now. |

Do you know something I don't? When I rented it, it said directed by the director of Pan's Labrynth. And it was spanish with english subtitles just like Pans. Either way, i liked it. What did you think of it? |
The Orphanage (Spanish: El Orfanato) is a 2007 Spanish-language horror film and the debut feature of Spanish filmmaker Juan Antonio Bayona.
Directed by Juan Antonio Bayona Produced by Mar Targarona Joaquín Padro Álvaro Agustín Guillermo del Toro Written by Sergio G. Sánchez |
I actually didn't see it yet.
|
Damn so he only produced it?
I liked it alittle better than Pan's Labrynth too...haha. |
The cinemetography is beautiful man, there is a brilliant shot of the moon. I know that probably sounds lame.
