favorite black sabbath song?

FAIRIES WEAR BOOTS.

There's like 9 great riffs in this one song!

Toilet & Bowels 06.16.2010 07:30 AM

the wizard or sweet leaf. supernaut too if it didn't have that ethnic hippy jam bit in the middle

Rob Instigator 06.16.2010 08:43 AM

that "ethnic hippie jam" in the middle of Supernaut counterpoints how fucking heavy that song is!
That type of shit is why hispanics love Sabbath!

Mine

Children of the Grave/Supernaut (tie)

I cannot choose

TheFoxBen 06.16.2010 08:47 AM

my all-time favorite is

Symptom of the Universe (that fucking breakdown at the end INVENTED patented hard rock dynamics)

The Warning (my god that shit is smooth yet harsh)

Wheels of Confusing/The Straightener
You must spread some Reputation around before giving it to Satan again.

You must spread some Reputation around before giving it to Rob Instigator again.

narlus 06.16.2010 05:58 PM

so many, but here are the ones I pick:

NIB
Children of the Grave
Fairies Wear Boots
Planet Caravan
Hand of Doom
Sabbra Cadabra
Hole In The Sky
Wheels of Confusion

assuming we're talking Ozzy-era here.

pokkeherrie 06.16.2010 06:04 PM

Into The Void
War Pigs
Sabbath Bloody Sabbath

Pax Americana 06.16.2010 06:07 PM

It's an obvious pick, but Paranoid. That song is just too good.

Supernaut

I can't believe no one else has mentioned this one! One of the greatest riffs of all time...

FreshChops 06.17.2010 12:51 AM

suchfriends: I got the file, Thanks! Yeah, indeed some good stuff in there. Some sounds familiar, some not. A couple really good ones. I was suprised w/ Laguna Sunrise, but liked it best (for there stuff).

All sarcasm aside, I hope all of your mp3's aren't at that sample rate 56 kbps. and that's just you're 'sharing' size.

unfortunately all my mp3s ARE at that rate, I need to cram to fit into my iPod. Honestly, unless I use studio monitor headphones I can hardly ever notice the difference between 56 and say 192..

narlus 06.17.2010 04:55 PM

wow...your ears must be shot.

or you've never heard music on a good system.

bit of both, though mostly in column a. I had deafening tinnitus for years and years, I don't even know why or how it went away, I hardly changed my abusive ways ;)

Not advised, but more power to you. The difference between like 56 and 192 is the difference from Youtube compressed audio quality and CD quality. I guess heavy digital compression (like 56) is the new "tape noise"... it's all good. Thanks either way.

SpectralJulianIsNotDead 06.18.2010 10:06 AM

Symptom of the Universe
Children of the Grave
Sweet Leaf

Newfoundland 06.18.2010 05:38 PM

Have to agree on Fairies Wear Boots.

YES YES
and
YES
Geezer

Black Sabbath are 100 times better than Led Zeppelin and The Doors combined.

TheMadcapLaughs 06.19.2010 09:33 PM

kelly osbourne's version of "changes"!

or Under the Sun/Every Day Comes and Goes and Electric Funeral

that shit is fuckin heavy

stadtgorilla 06.22.2010 07:19 AM

some riffs are great, but whenever i try to listen to an entire sabbath album, the stupidity always outweighs the awesomeness, so my pick would be

"fx"

from volume 4.

some would say that the same thing about sonic youth. :p

if you mean the lyrics are the stupid part.

Count Mecha 06.22.2010 10:39 AM

Warpigs
Planet Caravan
Sweet Leaf

There's probably some super bangers I forgot and I'll be really upset because I omitted them.

My favorite Black Sabbath recording though is probably that 18 minute version of Wicked World from Live at Last. It actually combines several tracks but whatever. It's great stuff.

SuchFriendsAreDangerous 06.22.2010 04:14 PM

You have given out too much Reputation in the last 24 hours, try again later.

ann ashtray 06.22.2010 05:04 PM

You can't notice the different between 56 and 192?!

I mean, I don't notice a big difference between 192 and 320...

but 56 and 192?!

well sometimes i can, but generally no, and I think it is bizarre because I have hearing like a bat, I can triangulate sounds and always know where they are coming from. I hear the entire world like a musical score, with clarity and spatial resonance, and with audio mixes I am usually VERY picky however in regards to MP3s I have never noticed the difference (well almost, the difference my ear notices is very slight, especially for old school shit like Sabbath)
