Best song in Sister LP
 

Maybe this is very stupid "competition" because I think many share my opinion that all the Sister Songs are great! But I like music-"competitions"... I don´t count cd-bonus Master-dik belonging into the album, that´s why the title Sister LP.

I think it´s Pipeline/Kill Time. That´s because it´s a culmination of the whole albums combination of dramatic melodies and quite fast tempo. By the way there´s more high tempo songs in Sister than any other albums, so it differs a lot from the other Sonic albums. Of course all the Sonic-albums differs from the others, though in my opinion they found their sonic style in EVOL.

If I would have been honest, the best song would be Schizophrenia. Because it is classic! But it would have been too obvious choise.

One reason to this thread is, that I think many thinks sister is best Lp of Sonics, so maybe this thread will choose also best Sonic song. But if I have to choose best Sonic song, it might be Reena.

Sister is Sonic Youth´s fourth album (or fifth if you count the first mini-lp). Maybe you should visit the archives, there you can found Sonic Youth discography.

WHITE CROSS

Love that whole record, but my favorite is Kotton Krown. The guitars sound awesome, the lyrics are some of Thurston's best IMO, and it has a great melody. Just awesome all around.

It's a tossup between Cotton Crown and Kotton Krown.

Schizophrenia, Catholic Block and Stereo Sanctity are great, too. It's one of those records where all of the obvious "hit songs" are my favorites.

I also love Mastrer-Dik, even though it was not on the original release.

Tough to decide. "Schizo" = amazing story telling. "Kotton Krown" = Super Sonic Love Song. Both are wonderful marriage duets. I wish they were on seperate LP's so I didn't have to Sophie's Choose.

Catholic block, my favorite sy song off my favorite sy album. It got me into them.

Kotton Krown is my personal favourite, but there's nothing on that album I dislike.

At this time it seems that Pipeline/Kill Time is the best song from the Sister in this thread. I count all the suggestions and they all have equal "point". Everybody who haven´t heard Sister, listen Pipeline/Kill Time, then you have to buy the whole album!

Beauty Lies in the Eye

toss up between Stereo Sanctity, Tuff Gnarl, and KK. Probably Stereo. Glad no one said Hotwire My Heart. That track's a snoozer.

For me, Tuff gnarl, love the lyrics, love the build up, especially love the epic noise ending.

Sister, the one album i'd like to hear them do "live" front to back (like for the Don't Look Back Daydream Nation tours) i think nearly all these songs are stronger sounding "live".

mann......this is a hard one. Tuff Gnarl rocks. Catholic Block was my fave for a long while....but then there's also White Kross. PCH is fantastic. Since I heard it live it's been kickin' my ears' asses so hard.
