stu666 04.09.2010 01:23 AM

U2 used to be my favourite band when i was a kid

davenotdead 04.09.2010 01:24 AM

i've just never heard a song of theirs that i've liked... cept that their bad stuff is fun because its terrible. kind of like metallica's st. anger

Satan 04.09.2010 01:41 AM

different strokes.

we all know how dave likes to be stroked.

davenotdead 04.09.2010 01:43 AM

indeed.

akprodr 04.09.2010 07:11 AM

Hey, I was a fan of Eno, well slightly before U2--Bowie, Devo, THeads, etc. So I was very excited to hear the 'new' U2 and I still like 'em. Esp the new album--combines virtually all of their old tricks in a new and repackaged manner.

And I feel it is OK to like them because I got Grandfathered in since the first U2 album I bought was October. Loved the video for Gloria.

SuperCreep 04.09.2010 07:12 AM

douchedom aside, boy, war, the unforgettable fire, and achtung baby are all fine albums in my book, albeit each having varying amounts of filler.

tesla69 04.09.2010 12:50 PM

they lost it for me after Boy...a looooong time ago

pbradley 04.09.2010 01:35 PM

The only U2 song I've ever liked. The lyrics are stupid, of course.

davenotdead 04.09.2010 02:30 PM

there's just so much stuff out there that is so much more interesting. u2 are almost as boring as coldplay.

boring is the worst thing a creative artist / musician can be

chicka 04.09.2010 02:57 PM

Edge has never grown on the guitar, 2 chords five albums.

Keeping It Simple 04.09.2010 05:47 PM

They were great on the Old Grey Whistle Test.

What are you gabbing on about?

demonrail666 04.10.2010 07:31 AM

nothing, i was just increasing my post count through boredom.

Torn Curtain 04.10.2010 08:03 AM

I really like War, Under a blood red sky,the Unforgettable fire and Achtung baby and I actually think the Joshua Tree is quite good too (probably their most consistent record).

When he's inspired I think his guitar parts can be really great. In addition I read somewhere that he said that "Bono's circus" during concerts sometimes really embarrassed him, he actually seems to be a cool guy.

I also really like Adam Clayton's bass lines, but I can't bear him as a person (he seems to be even more of a twat than Bono).

11 o'clock tick tock is one my favourite early U2 songs, especially played live. The studio version was produced by Martin Hannett by the way.

chicka 04.10.2010 11:03 AM

I saw them live coming off the release of the Joshua Tree so it was an enjoyable concert but just like Led Zeppelin the radio killed them with over play especially that album. The concert and the Joshua Tree were the end of it with U2 for me. My taste started moving to a period of Jazz....

Sorry....I'm kind of a U2 fan....yeh Bono is a douche...

Saw 'em live when they went on tour for How to Dismantle an Atom Bomb....That fuckin' albums sucks....but the show was rather mediocre.

Keeping It Simple 04.10.2010 03:32 PM

Achtung Baby is a brilliant album.

Glice 04.10.2010 05:27 PM

Oh, Jon. If only you were a woman, and not a coal-eating northerner. Why, I'd happily acquiesce to dicking you. Unless you looked like you do, in which case I'm sure you'd excuse me for giving you a mercy fuck and then moving to Bahrain.

automatic bzooty 04.10.2010 07:29 PM

"mercy fuck"

is that a band name yet? it should be

Norma J 04.10.2010 07:50 PM

Rattle and Hum is an awesome doco. Pretty near perfect.
