Yr top five LP favorites?
I was thinking about it yesterday and with more music it gets much harder to decide, so it comes down to which has the most influence on my music styles. So for now atleast mine are:
|
Didn't we just do a top 10 a little while ago?
As of...always: 1. Sonic Youth - Sister 2. Unwound - Leaves Turn Inside You 3. Mission of Burma - Vs. (but i've been listening to the obliterati like twice a day, seeing burma on friday!!) 4. Fugazi - The Argument 5. My Bloody Valentine - Loveless |
As of now, in no order:
Jesus Lizard - Goat Six Finger Sattellite - Severe Exposure Lightning Bolt - Wonderful Rainbow MF Doom - Special Herb, Vols. 1 & 2 Rapeman - Two Nuns and a Pack Mule Yes the MF Doom does seem out of place, but I've been listening to it alot, so I guess it would be considered a favorite. |
Right now:
Xiu Xiu - Life and Live Cat Power - The Greatest Sufjan Stevens - A Sun Came! Antony and the Johnsons - I Am A Bird Now Yellow Swans - Psychic Successions |
Sonic Youth-Daydream Nation

It'd be like pulling teeth narrowing it down to 5.....plus I didn't even have any SY albums on that list and no more than one album each from my favorite bands....to hard I tell ya.
|
Daydream Nation - Sonic Youth
Green Mind - Dinosaur Jr Slanted & Enchanted - Pavement The Beatles - The beatles Lawnboy - Phish |
Fugazi - Rpeater
Sonic Youth - SYR 4 Goodbye 20th Century The Modern Lovers (s/t) No New York compilation Mars - Complete 1977-1978 NYC Studio Recordings (They're all vinyl, too, making them even greater. The Mars packaging is so pretty. The Lovers thing is a reissue gatefold with the high school dance poster art inside the cover. The liner notes for No New York are all in Russian.) |
mine changes all the time but at the moment it is
1. Elliott Smith - From a basement on the hill 2. Sonic Youth - Daydream nation 3. The Flaming Lips - Clouds taste metalic i cant choose another 2 without repeating a band or musician. all of my favourite albums are by those bands. |
at the moment my five favouriye lumps of vinyl are:

I'm currently subsumed in a massive 70's revival of my own making... so in the spirit of this phenomenon here are my top 5 chunks of vinyl today.

I love Exile. I have a UK vinyl pressing from the 70s. Back then, the Brits were making much nicer vinyl than pressing plants in the states. It was very clean and heavy, much like the 180-gram stuff now. I still have all the postcards that came with it.
I love Horses. I love all the stuff in your top 5, Cantankerous. |
Sonic Youth - Murray Street
The Fall - The Infotainment Scan Horace Silver - Blowin the Blues Away Thats definitely my top three. |

One track by Patti that i can't get enough of is 'Frederick'.There are so many others though. We love Patti,we do.
|
we love patti, yes we do
we love patti, how bout you? patti patti she's our man if she can't do it lenny can |
I played Horses practically non-stop back when it first came out. I wanted to be Patti.
The weird thing is, even though I played that vinyl on the cheap BSR turntable that came with my cheap Sony all-in-one system (very popular in the 70s), that vinyl doesn't sound like it has as much wear as records I bought in the 80s and played on supposedly better equipment. |
i would want to be patti if she wasn't a man.
|
I remember Patti-girls at school. I had a crush on each and every one.
|
top three...not in an order really
Aenima- Tool Daydream Nation- Sonic Youth You're Living All Over Me- Dinosaur Jr. |
Tom Petty - Wildflowers
Pearl Jam - No Code Wilco - Yankee Hotel Foxtrot Sonic Youth - Sonic Nurse The Beatles - Abbey Road I'm sure there's about 30 that could be cycled in there... |
no order as usual:
Caetano Veloso - Transa DJ Shadow - In The Mix (live) Henry Mancini - TV/Movie Themes Part1 Muddy Waters - Electric Mudd VA - Havana Jam |
All times are GMT -5. The time now is 07:31 AM. |
