Yr top five LP favorites?
 

I was thinking about it yesterday and with more music it gets much harder to decide, so it comes down to which has the most influence on my music styles. So for now atleast mine are:

1. Glenn Branca - Symphonys 8 & 10 (the mysteries)
2. Derek bailey - Ballads
3. John Fahey - Legend of blind joe death
4. Sonic youth - Bad moon rising
5. John coltrane - The ascension (my first jazz album I didnt bootleg.)

The glenn branca altered by playing style when it came to playing free music with certain tunings. Derek bailey influenced the way I played completely. John fahey lead me to trying more tunings for practical reasons. Sonic youth lead me to more tunings. And the coltrane influenced by interest in jazz and freejazz music. Rhys chatyham would be no.6

I love Exile. I have a UK vinyl pressing from the 70s. Back then, the Brits were making much nicer vinyl than pressing plants in the states. It was very clean and heavy, much like the 180-gram stuff now. I still have all the postcards that came with it.

I played Horses practically non-stop back when it first came out. I wanted to be Patti.

The weird thing is, even though I played that vinyl on the cheap BSR turntable that came with my cheap Sony all-in-one system (very popular in the 70s), that vinyl doesn't sound like it has as much wear as records I bought in the 80s and played on supposedly better equipment.

i would want to be patti if she wasn't a man.

I remember Patti-girls at school. I had a crush on each and every one.
