Blonde Redhead

Until recently I only had Misery is a Butterfly, which is great...but I had no idea how good their earlier music is...I got two more albums this week (damaged lemons and fake) and they are excellent....does anyone else love them?

TheDom 07.06.2006 11:02 PM

They don't do it for me

HaydenAsche 07.06.2006 11:03 PM

I dig 'em.

Which albums are your favorites?

HaydenAsche 07.06.2006 11:04 PM

S/T
Misery
Damaged Lemons
Fake

Daycare Nation 07.06.2006 11:07 PM

Fake is my favorite so far....but I like damaged lemons quite a bit too--I like them both better than butterfly....They don't really have that many albums, I was surprised.

HaydenAsche 07.06.2006 11:08 PM

Fake is boring to me. It is decent and shit but it's like their Rather Ripped or EJSTNS. Good album but compared to the other shit they've done not even worthy of a mention.

Daycare Nation 07.06.2006 11:10 PM

Ha! That seems appropriate that our tastes would differ in such a way.

Пятхъдесят Шест 07.06.2006 11:11 PM

The one released on Smells Like Records is good, I don't feel like looking it up, or getting out of bed to go find the name. You know what I mean.

HaydenAsche 07.06.2006 11:13 PM

Self-titled?

Пятхъдесят Шест 07.06.2006 11:17 PM

No, its in Spanish.

krastian 07.06.2006 11:22 PM

They are one of my favorite bands that are still actually making music.....I've seen them 7 or 8 times. I can't wait for them to tour again. I bought their first two albums from Smells Like before I had even heard them before back in the day.....glad I did.

Пятхъдесят Шест 07.06.2006 11:26 PM

La Mia Vita Violenta is the SLR release. I had to get smokes, it was a reason to get up.

drrrtyboots 07.06.2006 11:58 PM

La Mia Vita Violenta is deffinitely my favorite. I can't fucking wait for their new album which will deffinitely mean some good ol' US touring too.

whorefrost 07.07.2006 08:24 AM

was intrigued by them when i was younger as an edgy Sy style noise band... when i finally heard them i was a tad disappointed by how straightforward they were... still decent tho... i'm quite partial to melody of certain damaged lemons... in an expression of the inexpressible has got some cool moments too

_slavo_ 07.07.2006 08:29 AM

Fake rocks like a mothafucka

I agree......that's my sentimnetal favorite. I love them all though. Water, Kazuality....I love it.

ricechex 07.08.2006 09:17 AM

the self titled BR is actually this one:

and its great. If u like Misery, u may like all of their others even more. Misery is my least fave.

drrrtyboots 07.08.2006 11:24 AM

Miser is just their most ecletic because their sound changed into more of a "european" kind of thing and focused less on some of the guitar things they did in the past. They're probably going to continue in this direction..

Style 07.08.2006 02:47 PM

I've heard damaged lemons and enjoyed it. It sounded a little different than how I was expecting it to sound, but I definitely need to check out more of their albums.

Derek 06.25.2010 07:10 AM

Misery is a Butterfly is my favourite.

TheFoxBen 06.25.2010 08:01 AM

I've just listened to their self-titled... Sonic Youth all over the place ! It's not really a bad thing but it almost sounds EXACTLY like SY...

nicfit 06.25.2010 08:10 AM

Some sounds perhaps, but not the songwriting imo.

TheFoxBen 06.25.2010 08:12 AM

Just listen to "Astro Boy", it could be a SY track, seriously.

nicfit 06.25.2010 08:23 AM

uhm, no, vocals, basslines, melodies, different stuff.. but wathever :D.

TheFoxBen 06.25.2010 08:45 AM

Well, I don't know, I instantly thought of SY, but it's just me then.

nicfit 06.25.2010 08:59 AM

nono lots of people say their first 2 albums "are like sy", I just don't agree much except for some "sounds"/bits in them...

agreed.

especially the drumming seems different except when he uses the maracas. it's been along time since ive listened but his drumming maybe is more subtle than steve's (nothing against steve!) w/ a slight jazz feel to them.

Torn Curtain 06.27.2010 06:45 AM

Pitchfork's news giving some info on the new album.

EVOLghost 06.27.2010 12:31 PM

Thakns! jusr downloaded.

Ghostchase 06.27.2010 01:45 PM

hmmmm... I like the new track

Jeremy 06.30.2010 03:22 AM

I quite like the new song, I like how it sounds production-wise and how different it is from some of their other stuff. I'm actually pretty excited about this record now.

Their new record and Superchunk's come out the same day, sweet.
