Sonic Youth Album Cup 2009 Round One: Bad Moon Rising v NYCG&F
OK, you have until next sunday to vote. See the main thread for details, but VOTE FOR WHO YOU WANT TO WIN.
Bad Moon Rising without a doubt
NYCG&F actually. It's beautiful.
new york city ghosts and flowers
Baboon Rising!
Why had my two favorite SY albums to get one against the other?
Bad Moon Rising still |
NYC just might be my favourite. Sorry BMR

given the other ones you've voted for, that's quite surprising. |

NYC took a hold of me about 6 months ago, and won't let go. It would have beat anything, I think??!! IMO BMR isn't quite as good as the first 2. |
Gotta be NYC. Bad Moon is just too boring for me.
For me, this is the hardest thread to choose from. I chose NYC G+F
Curious to see how this pans out (though seems BMR has taken an early lead). Two similar albums in some respects.
Neither are really in my favorites, but I think BMR has the edge.
NYC G+F tough choice though
BMR
The way I see these records are as follows: song for song BMR is the better, but all things considered within the context of the album NYCGF has the upper hand. Both are excellent, and while I'm torn about this decision, I just can't get Halloween out of my head.
NYC without a doubt. Free City Rhymes is one of my favourite sonic youth's songs.
bumped to keep it on the main page
BMR
This one is hard, but NYC changed the way I think of music.
Even after a thousand listens, when Lee's guitar first enters in Free City Rhymes I still get chills. Beautiful music on that album. |
One more day for anyone who hasn't already done so to vote.
I'll be posting the ties for round two sometime tomorrow evening. |

who decides to put such albums together. ugh. |
Whoa. From the first round, this is the most difficult poll for me to decide...
I'll go for NYC G&F. |
Two of my favourite albums EVER... shit.
BMR just has the edge due to the impact that it had on me at the tender age of 24. |
