A short film about the loss of memory. ...Basically, I found an old picture of my mom and decided to make a short film just using that picture as the only source for the imagery. I mean, really, if you think about it, you can manipulate images in an infinite number of ways, so I just kinda limited myself to only working on this thing for an hour and having only 500 images in the end. I think it turned out interesting enough.

I'm gonna sound predictable here but this might be my favourite of all the things you've done so far. Seriously awesome!

I appreciate it. It took forever. It didn't turn out how I wanted it to, but that's what the purpose of these shorts is to do... to experiment.

With the first film, is that the final length or is it planned as a segment of something longer?

Yeah, it's the final length. Haha. The actual product was a good 2 minutes (1973 individually-manipulated images!) but I sped it up a bunch to give it that weird look. I will probably do something else in that style eventually. It was very time consuming though and just an experiment in animation and color.

I'll admit, scizzor shock was a little too much for me. I'm a huge fan of yr visuals though.

This one is just me experimenting with layering ghost images on top of ghost images on top of... yeah. With a healthy dose of blur. Again, none of these are anything extremely substantial yet, just me messing around so I am skilled whenever I do my next project full of substance. Enjoy.

a fun little animated short.

i like how it's increasingly impossible to put your work within the context of anybody else's. most people doing this stuff are just mimicking other bigger names but it's nice looking at what you're doing without having that sense of, 'oh, he's obviously been watching a lot of [x]'s stuff.'

I have an idea for my next short but I want to know your guys's opinion first... if it's too silly/stupid.

Basically, I was going to design my own level of Super Mario Brothers 3 and have Mario run through it. But it's going to be all fucked-up looking.. so it won't obviously be Mario 3 and it won't obviously be Mario running. And it'll have droney/noisey music. And uh, that's it. That's the film. THink that's cool?

Your stuff is very impressive, Adam - visually very "moody" and off-centre, without falling into the "abstract for the sake of it" trap. I really like the sounds that you put together on your videos too -very Alan Splet-like. You should definitely carry on doing the animations, you have a flair for it.

This is basically just a weird tribute to 8-bit video games. Much lighter and more fun than my usual videos. Enjoy.

i used mario 1 instead of 3 for the inspiration/some of the sprites i fucked up. 1 is a lot simpler... I originally had some really busy, crazy backgrounds but I thought it distracted from what I was trying to do so I made it minimal.

This is another experiment in manipulating space and perception. Focusing on a minimal aesthetic, but interrupting it with off-time video defects, creates an uncomfortable atmosphere.

As always (I've said it elsewhere but I want to make this the thread for my art/films/music/writing/etc so I don't flood the board with all this promotional shit), you can download every video I've made directly from here. Indeed, there's the new "shorts" folder -- all 7 of the shorts I've made so far.


...my plan, right now, and tell me if this is a bad idea, but I want to make 50 of these shorts. Yes, 50. It'll take a few months, of course. But then, I want to kinda cut 'em up, and edit 'em differently, and put them in a weird order, and film a "wrap around" story and expand the length of the whole thing to a good 60 minutes and make that my second feature film. I'm not going to really edit myself, so in other words, I'm filming these shorts without any conventional "movie" logic in my mind, so it's going to be this grabbag of complete disconnection... so, watching all the little shorts unfold without any context of them being shorts but in the context of one actual "movie" is going to be completely fucking out there... but all these shorts do represent the hardest period of my life thus far, so yeah.

Coming soon, I'm going to film a few "staring contest" videos. Basically, me and my girlfriend and some other people are going to stare directly into a camera for a good minute or so without blinking. And that'll be it. Can't wait to post 'em.

Also, for my THIRD feature, I might finally buy a decent camera. Haha. I want to focus on making a slower, more minimal, "Acted" film, with uuuuuu providing most of the music. but that'll be way down the line.

I also think I'm going to start taking this "seriously", so should I build a webpage?

Different from one another. I dug it.

I'm always working on many projects at once... all the time.

But, for the record, I do have insomnia. Actually, I think it's insomnia. I can't sleep 6-8 hours. I sleep 2 or 3 and then am up for a while, then sleep 2 or 3 and am up for a while, etc. Usually there'll be a day in the week where I crash and sleep a good 8 hours straight but that's rare.
