You and I are opening, Bri. I hope you have some new material, because I'm ready to rock!

syd67 05.04.2009 11:37 PM

my wife and I will be at the Chicago show as well. didn't get to see them on the proper RR tour. they did do "Reena" and "Incinerate" post-DDN at the Pitchfork/ATP Don't Look Back show. The Nurse show at the Vic was pretty good. can't remember who opened off the top of my head.

summer 05.05.2009 12:11 AM

I hope it's Brand New.

amerikangod 05.05.2009 12:36 AM

Maybe the singer from Alien Ant Farm will become un-crippled and we can get SOME OF THAT ACTION.

EDIT: Wikipedia says he's not crippled, he just fractured a vertebrae and since has even released more albums. So never mind.

MAYBE IT WILL BE POWERMAN 5000. With Rob Zombie making a guest appearance for a duet of 'Dragula.'

amerikangod 05.05.2009 12:43 AM

And later in Sonic Youth's set Rob Zombie could make a SECOND appearance for yet another duet of 'Dragula.' No. Seriously guys. Please imagine Thurston lending vocals to that.

bri2u2002 05.05.2009 11:31 AM

serious though - anyone know. Will they even have one.

Dinosaur?

Rob Instigator 05.05.2009 12:48 PM

opening act, christina aguilera

SYRFox 05.05.2009 12:53 PM

Soulja Boy is opening

sonic sphere 05.05.2009 02:11 PM

the smashing pumpkins

sl1ck 05.05.2009 02:16 PM

I'm hoping for Bardo Pond or Swervedriver.

greedrex 05.05.2009 02:19 PM

Shellac

tesla69 05.05.2009 03:14 PM

I'd prefer 2 sets that start on time and no opener.

greedrex 05.05.2009 03:16 PM

what about a three hour long set spanning their entire career, Three songs off each of their studio albums ending with Dimaond Sea with a Massage the History coda?

automatic bzooty 05.05.2009 03:33 PM

ciccone youth opening for sonic youth.

atsonicpark 05.05.2009 03:43 PM

robedoor, robe., robe, and door are all opening.

amerikangod 05.05.2009 03:53 PM

Nirvana, with Take That-era Robbie Williams understudying for Kurt Cobain. There will still be a duet of 'Dragula.'

vulva 05.05.2009 04:07 PM

Nirvana

EDIT: Didn't see the guy above me already said Nirvana.

Nirvana

static-harmony 05.05.2009 04:11 PM

Hole.

amerikangod 05.05.2009 05:07 PM

I'd like it to be another 'big one' like the Feelies, except a band that I actually like and care about. Boredoms would be awesome.

That or dredg, becase who doesn't like seeing the fat guy from 'Lost' singing about painting in a painfully over-emotive fashion?

LOL!

amerikangod 05.05.2009 05:12 PM

C'mon guys...

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=K-7AIo6cTzg

That dude, doing a duet of 'Dragula' with Thurston.

amerikangod 05.05.2009 05:22 PM

Just a quick mock-up in case anyone still needs convincing:

Fatty from dredg:
"Dead I am the life, dig into the skin
Knuckle crack the bone, 21 to win"

Thurston:
"Dead I am the dog, hound of hell you cry
Devil on yr back, I can never die"

Both:
"Dig through the ditches,
And burn through the witches
I slam in the back of my
Dragula"

And in the last part it's like...

Fatty from dredg (emoting like you've never heard another human emote, just brimming with ESOTERIC FEELINGS THAT HE IS JUST SO IN TUNE WITH:
"Draaaaaguuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuulaaaaaaaaaaaaa aaaaaaaaaaaaaa!!!!!!!!"

Thurston:
"Drag-u-laaaaaaaaa-la-la-la-woooooooosh! CHECK YR HEAD!!!"

amerikangod 05.05.2009 07:33 PM

I'm actually getting really angry that no one else is getting excited about this duet. Do I need to type 'Dragula' again? Because I'll do it.

atsonicpark 05.05.2009 07:35 PM

oh god, DREDG? I haven't heard that name in years. Ugh..

THANK YOU.

I've been waiting for that type of reaction.

atsonicpark 05.05.2009 07:53 PM

Hey, anyone want to talk about Primer 55, Factory 81, Relative Ash, Swift...

amerikangod 05.05.2009 08:07 PM

I'll happily converse about Chevelle, Far, onelinedrawing, Drowning Pool, Puddle of Mudd, Cold, Ill Nino, Hopesfall, or pretty much any band on Trustkill Records.

amerikangod 05.05.2009 08:14 PM

JESUS CHRIST BANDS JUST DON'T MAKE MUSIC LIKE THIS ANYMORE:

atsonicpark 05.05.2009 08:16 PM

You forgot Revelle!

Chevelle's "Point # 1" is actually a pretty cool album.

amerikangod 05.05.2009 08:20 PM

And in celebration of Cinqo de Mayo, here is some P.O.D. (please note the usage on the 'Little Nicky' soundtrack):

But not as cool as 'Inside Out' by Eve 6, 'My Own Worst Enemy' by Lit, 'Flagpole Sitta' by Harvey Danger, 'When I'm Gone' by 3 Doors Down, 'Mudshovel' by Staind, or those songs Santana did with Everlast and Rob Thomas of Matchbox 20.

TRUFAX: I once bought a Matchbox 20 CD because I was into a chick and it was her favorite band. When I listened to it the first time on my shitty little discman, I was so pained that I had let myself do something so stupid.

mattmacneil 05.05.2009 09:44 PM

I'd love for the Feelies to open. Swervedriver would be pretty wicked.

amerikangod 05.05.2009 09:46 PM

Skrewdriver would be better.

greedrex 05.06.2009 06:15 PM

Oh shit, that should be in quotes. I wasn't threatening you greedrex, I was just noting my favorite song by Stabbing Westward. 'Hey guys...' is on the new new album.
