When two cool bands become one awesome band...
 

I was just listening to some live stuff of the newish harsh noise trio sanquine piss. really cool, really heavy, hissing, static, looping, all that stuff would you expect, but from a refreshing punk angle. they apparently formed out of two other bands; antler piss (who i know and were pretty great) and sanguine (who i dont know).

it just made me start thinking, what were some other times bands came together and made some awesome music.

the wolf eyes and smegma collab as the beast comes to mind.

im lost for thinking of examples of this.

It's easier to think of offshoots than involve most of the personnel from two bands, like The Teargarden et al than it is to think of full on "This Band/That Band" releases.

These aren't strictly the coming together of two bands but:

Harmonia (Cluster + Neu dude)
Fursaxa when she used to have the guys from Bardo Pond backing her.

whoever says melvins and big business gets bitch slapped.

reasons:

a) the melvins were already an awesome band.

b) big business turned into shit after joining with buzz and dale.

Yeah, wouldn't call Religious Knives awesome neither. And I too think Double Leopards is one of the best bands ever. Halve Maen is one of my favorite albums of all time

green, prayer rug exorcism, white wind of autumn, chimärendämmerung and snail on a razor are unending beautiful and intense.

yeah. whenever I put it on, it sends me into this special atmosphere, it's really great. A few weeks ago I listened to the whole of it in the darkness, lying in my bed, and it was a fantastic experience
