Are you a skater?

Well, are you? I've noticed that many of you wear sk8te company clothing and like the 100% video but just how many of you syg members are skatepunks? How many of you got into the yoof through skateboarding? Your opinions on the matter? Personal skating history? I'm just curious. Vote now, yes?

CHOUT 06.11.2006 03:07 AM

I grew up skating. Started at about 9 now I'm 28. As I've got older, I've done it less, but I'll never quit. I sprained my ankle at a concert recently, so I won't be skating most of the summer. I'm bummed.

youthoftomorrow 06.11.2006 03:07 AM

i tried to be when i was younger (sixth grade, maybe?). i was never able to do any tricks or anything, but i could at least ride the board and ollie. i don't anymore.

Trasher02 06.11.2006 03:11 AM

Sketchy ollie

Bs smith

CHOUT 06.11.2006 03:14 AM

I hadn't seen that ollie pic before - cool!

John Violence 06.11.2006 03:21 AM

I swear I'll load my part on youtube soon. Yeah as of late it's been really fun skating. I just filmed a manual Hensley flip (no comply shove it underflip) out on a little pad yesterday first try. I got pretty lucky. Has anybody seen that footage of Neil Blender at a contest where he pulls a spray paint can and paints a picture on a vert wall in his run?

Trasher02 06.11.2006 03:25 AM

Manual hensley flip first try... that's sick! I'm having problems doing a manual pop shovit out!

Manual shove it has always been a hard one for me. Have you ever tried manual frontside shove it out? Once you get the foot positioning for it then it's not that hard.

Trasher02 06.11.2006 03:33 AM

Could be, but i'm not quite the tech skater anyway. gimme stairs and handrails and i'll be happy.

John Violence 06.11.2006 03:38 AM

I feel stupid asking this, but I must know, how many stairs have you ollied? I barely made it to the double digits with 10.

EDIT That ollie is rad Thrasher! I like the ghetto ramp.

CHOUT 06.11.2006 03:41 AM

My most was 3...they were long though.

I vaguely recall that Blender run you mentioned. I probably saw it years ago. Search him on youtube - I found some footage of him there once.

John Violence 06.11.2006 03:45 AM

If you can ever find the G&S video "Footage" you should buy it. Neil Blender has one of my all time favorite parts in that vid. It also has Doug Smith who rips, and a very young Rob Dyrdek skating in it.

king_buzzo 06.11.2006 04:24 AM

i skated only once with a really small board and broke it...

marleypumpkin 06.11.2006 08:19 AM

For those who know me, you know how I voted.

The most I ever did was 5, & like CHOUT, the stairs were wide, & the drop off was far.

High not far. I'll post a pic sometime.

nomadicfollower 06.11.2006 09:53 AM

I used to. I was big into it, it's all I ever did, then I quit.

RIPfrey05 06.11.2006 10:08 AM

whats the hardest thing about skate boarding?
Telling your parents your gay!!!

Trasher02 06.11.2006 10:09 AM

RIPfrey05 06.11.2006 10:11 AM

PAULYBEE2656 06.11.2006 10:14 AM

nope, ive still got all my original ankles!

John Violence 06.11.2006 06:28 PM

I have only rolled my ankle once skatboarding and i've been doing it for almost six years.

SolidZach 06.11.2006 06:43 PM

I live down the street from a skatepark. But i dont skate.

EMMAh 06.11.2006 06:46 PM

Fuck no, that would be an accident waiting to happen.

luxinterior 06.11.2006 08:31 PM

Yeah, I skate.

ICE skate.

umjammer atomsk 06.11.2006 08:36 PM

Do you really have that? That's kick ass.

i don't wear no fkn helmet either.

Do you know how wide the Goo board is?

acousticrock87 06.11.2006 08:37 PM

I used to play rollerhockey, so I used to be really good at rollerblading. I haven't done it in years.

Never been a skater, though.

Ha ha ha.

John Violence 06.11.2006 08:44 PM

Now I know what new board i'm getting. It's probably only 85 bucks just for the deck!

SolidZach 06.11.2006 08:47 PM

i had a world industries and a zero a few months ago. The first one snapped and the zero got stolen.

John Violence 06.11.2006 08:47 PM

I like to buy the tiny boards with the plastic trucks and fuck around on those. It's a really easy way to get laughs and shinners.

Style 06.11.2006 09:30 PM

I kind of stopped back in 2004. I still have my deck (element fiberlight) but it just sits in the garage right now.

HaydenAsche 06.11.2006 10:00 PM

I am riding a Bootleg currently. I like it.

TheMadcapLaughs 06.12.2006 12:19 AM

I grew up skating in San Diego, and now in college I don't have too much time. But its funny some of my friends that stuck with it, are now making it pretty big in the "industry". I don't know if any of you guys that skate on here know ryan bobier, from zero skateboards(i guess he's on mystery now), well he is one of those guys. But yeah, when I have the time i head over to the skatepark or a little ledge or soemthing. Its fun. My ankles will forever be fucked though. I have already accepted the fact that im going to have arthritis when i get older

Anngella 06.12.2006 12:47 AM

I used to skate in like 7th grade because I thought I was cool. And by skate I mean standing on the board and going down the hill. Haven't skated since.

DemonBox 06.12.2006 04:27 AM

I used to skate alot, for maybe two-three years, my signature trick was fakie bigspin.
