cyber-cheating
real or geek shit
poll incomming. Second Life affair ends in divorce LONDON, England (CNN) -- A British couple who married in a lavish Second Life wedding ceremony are to divorce after one of them had an alleged "affair" in the online world. Amy Taylor, 28, said she had caught husband David Pollard, 40, having sex with an animated woman. The couple, who met in an Internet chatroom in 2003, are now separated. "I went mad -- I was so hurt. I just couldn't believe what he'd done," Taylor told the Western Morning News. "It may have started online, but it existed entirely in the real world and it hurts just as much now it is over." Second Life allows users to create alter egos known as "avatars" and interact with other players, forming relationships, holding down jobs and trading products and services for a virtual currency convertible into real life dollars. Taylor said she had caught Pollard's avatar having sex with a virtual prostitute: "I looked at the computer screen and could see his character having sex with a female character. It's cheating as far as I'm concerned." The couple's real-life wedding in 2005 was eclipsed by a fairy tale ceremony held within Second Life. But Taylor told the Western Morning News she had subsequently hired an online private detective to track his activities: "He never did anything in real life, but I had my suspicions about what he was doing in Second Life." Pollard admitted having an online relationship with a "girl in America" but denied wrongdoing. "We weren't even having cyber sex or anything like that, we were just chatting and hanging out together," he told the Western Morning News. Taylor is now in a new relationship with a man she met in the online roleplaying game World of Warcraft. (I lol'd) |
I'm voting geek shit. currently, I am not married online.
takers? ps: I'm good at WoW. |
i'd so make you my concubine, floslo.
|
I don't know about that case, it looks a bit suspicious. But hell yeah it can be real.
|
I've seen two art pieces that have used Second Life in them recently.
There isn't much difference between whatever hobbies. Playing WoW, keeping up on politics, sports, reading fiction, all these things aren't intrinsically a better use of time than another. A businessman cheats on his wife while overseas because it isn't "real" and therefore doesn't count. I don't know what counts. Share your hobbies with you loved one and vic versa. |
hahahahahahahaha
some folks are crazy |
...
I never checked second life. I wonder if its really "fun" WoW sucks |

Did you hear about the one in Japan where the online couple got divorced and the woman traveled to the guys house in real life, got on his computer, and killed his online character. Then I believe she was put in prison or arrested for a short amount of time...
|
I hope she gets her aliments faxed.

disclaimer; I don't judge, and every single relationship is different but imho;
cheating in my mind is defined very easily by two simple points, and can be both or just one. its something that your partner does not like, and hurts them emotionally it is something that if you are doing it, and your partner does not know about it, that it is something that you DONT want to tell them, because you either fear them telling you to stop, or what they'll say or that they'll leave. so, its something that involves guilt on the doer, AND OR hurt in the partner who is not participating. It doesnt matter how when or where. That is the definition to me. I dont really understand how anyone could think otherwise, but again, every single person and relationship out there is different and thats what makes people individuals. I've been hurt so many times by so many people by things which don't involve anything physical or which might not affect someone else who isnt in the same situation. The fact that it has hurt, means to me, that it is cheating someone out of either the option to opt out of the relationship based on all the FACTS, or cheating them out of the feeling of security in a relationship that comes with being monogomous or faithful or even just not having an open trust because you both agree to whatever you both get into. If both parties are happy to sleep with other people or see other people or have extra relationships in second life, then its fine. If it hurts one of the people in the relationship, then its cheating. No matter how geeky it might be or no matter how much the OTHER person who is doing it might not think it is cheating. I know people IRL who have met over WOW, used to live in seperate countries and are now married living together... they have a pretty awesome relationship, and are happy. So.. internet doesnt mean its not real or you can't meet someone who you get along with just the same as you can IRL.. it is real life.. just a little differently laid out. I also know of at least three other couples that I can think of online who have also met online and moved from a different country to get married and live together. I think in this situation in the article, the guy is an asshole for abusing the same method he used to meet his wife, and believe that she wouldnt think it meant anything.. but the woman is also probably a little blind to not have asked before hand if this is a big part of his life that he doesnt want to part with (internet socialising and dating whatev.) I think its cheating. But more because they werent honest with each other and didn't discuss it or give the other person the choice if they wanted to have their relationship that way. so yes. my 2 cents. |

and if ya dont know, now ya know. nigga. |
i think cyber cheating is legitimate. I dont confine the definition of cheating to physical activity. In fact, I would rather have my significant other sleep with another person than to develop a deep, emotional relationship with someone. And over the internet, a predominately text-based relationship exists. Words speak louder than actions.
At least in my perception of life. |
^^so how long have you been cybering sway?

just curious, couldnt figure out if you were anti internet dating or just anti internet dating while .. in a relationship.
I've met... 7? people from teh internets? I guess thats not many. 3 of those were potential romance interests. There were about 20 more that I would have met if I didnt end up hating them over internet drama. |
I've chatted with girls over the internet, with intentions of possibly dating them...
Unfortunately I have yet to meet one of them in the real world...:( |
