What would be playing in your own musical HELL?

Slavo and Pookie got me thinking about this with their comments in the "record that encapsulates what you love about music" thread.

Imagine your own personal Musical Hell.

what would be playing over the loudspeakers to torture you in the worst possible way?

atsonicpark 10.10.2008 08:59 AM

greedrex 10.10.2008 09:00 AM

i dunno, there's so much bad muzak out there.
there was this thread about a long piece that was put together with all possible music genres in it. as an mp3. That was horrid.

Fucking Nickelback. I realize that's so obvious that's it's not even original, but that band is SO bad. I try not to pay attention, but it seems every car at every light is blasting Nickelback and everyone at work is invading my cubicle space with that contrived mediocrity. Wait, am I already in hell?

I know, they're everywhere. They may very well be the Four Horsemen.

The worst thing about 8th was that all the girls were dating dudes with cars. What are you gonna do? When I had a car there was no way I was going to date an 8th grader. Man, 8th grade hearts break too easily.

rather ripped

Rob Instigator 10.10.2008 09:29 AM

so you truly think rather ripped is more odious to your ears than, say, Glass Houses by Billy Joel? or Hotel California by the Eagles?

TRUE STORY: I told the DJ at my wedding that even if every guest requested it, if I heard even a lick of "Lady In Red" he would be promptly fired on the spot and would have to take me to court to get paid for any of his services rendered before the faitful playing of said dreaded song.

1. I'm tired of the RR bashing on here. I truly think it's a 7/10 album. I like it. I listen to it fairly often. I loved "Reena" and "Jams Run Free."

2. I don't think GLASS HOUSES is horrible. I mean, if someone FORCED me to listen to it, I could still think of worse torture.

3. I loathe HOTEL CALIFORNIA.

Rob Instigator 10.10.2008 09:32 AM

at my wedding i told the motherfucking DJ that if I herad a ny goddam n Gloria estefan and the miami sound machine I wold personally shove my foot up his ass, but he PLAYED IT ANYWAY because os many fucking old hispanics at my wedding asked for it. goddamned relatives.

pedestrian 10.10.2008 09:35 AM

We decided on a dancehal theme for my wedding reception. Not because we're Jamaican of even particularly into dancehall; it just seemed like a lot of fun.

see that's why i didn't have a dj at my wedding, i knew they'd request shitty music. me and my wife just made a mix cd of songs we both liked and thought would be appropriate and played it over the pa. even threw little trouble girl on there. and some acoustic deftones song. it was mostly jazz though.

The funny thing is, we had a DJ, but we made the ENTIRE setlist! So really, the DJ just played our huge ass list. "Superstar" came on while we were eating. (This was before JUNO was even in the works, kids).

And we had a string trio playing during the ceremony and following wine/cheese hour. Dig.
