Kim loves rivers
I was just thinking... Kim sort of mentions rivers a lot in her songs? Maybe it's not that many, but...
The Sprawl "out back was the river" Nevermind "come on down, down to the river" and I remember when I saw them live at the pool a month ago, Kim was singing something like "won't you take me down to the river" in one of the new songs. interesting? sorta? |
Rivers Cuomo? Yeah. Who doesn't love Rivers.
|
Yeah Rivers is a pretty swell dude. He gets a lot of flack for those who think that Weezer have defected (which they have) but he seems aware that Weezer isn't like they used to be.
|
Pinkerton kicks so much ass!
|
Yeah, it's widely known among SY fans that Kim loves rivers while Thurston is more of a sea person:
Theresa's Sound World ("light blue vibration through the sea") Helen Lundeberg ("daybreak by the sea") The Diamond Sea ("......") |
Wait, that didn't make sense AT ALL!

this thread BEGS for some photoshopped Kim & Rivers pics.

Yeah, I noticed similarities between Mars and Nevermind too.
In Nevermind, "girls go to Mars," and "come down to the river." pretty neat |
i love the blue Lp and Pinkerton. the rest is meh.

It's weird. I thought this would be funny. But since you made it an SYR, I kind of wish it was real. I'd probably like it more than SYR5! |
Pinkerton's way better.
But the b-sides to the Blue album are the best. |
Paperface, hell yeah.

I think BLUE ALBUM and PINKERTON are pretty much a tie. But yr right, the BLUE BSides are probably the best work of the band's career. |

gotta get'em!!! |
greedrex, they're on the Universal Deluxe Edition release of the BLUE ALBUM. Seriously, "Jamie," "Suzanne," etc etc. So much good stuff.
|
Jamie is the best two chord strummer I have ever heard.....

Yeah it is. |
Mykel and Carli is my favorite Weezer song...
|
yeah i know, a friend of mine made me listen to the second disc of the deuxe edition. I do know Jamie which is awesome, but the rest didn't strike me as better then the LP itself, but I should give it another go cuz there seems to be consensus here...
|
susanne is one of my favorite songs as well.
|
she really loves rivers...cool... i prefer lakes.
Calming The Snake Come on down, down to the river Come on down I want to feel you shiver Dark on the edges, golden on top Floatin down the river Yr so hot Oh oh oh oh oh ooh [repeat] Come on down, down to the river Come on down I want to feel you shiver The sight of death is sure to deliver, Come on down I want to hear you quiver Oh oh ooh Corpses' drapery Rusting, sliding, sliding, Sliding Endless |

and don't forget "cross the breeze".
"let's go, walk along the water." definately could be a river |
water is used as imagery by many artists, def not specific to sonic youth. also they do always do a great job with lyrics.
