Wowee Zowee Deluxe

Looks like it's coming out sooner than I expected:

OLE-722 2 dbl CD Pavement -- Wowee Zowee DELUXE Fall 2006

That's from the Matador complete discography page.
http://www.matadorrecords.com/releases/discography.html

I'm psyched.

Yay! My second-favorite Pavement album.

On a semi-unrelated note, Mark Ibold was doing an ultra-brief interview on el radio, and he sounded EXTREMELY bitter and very evasive. Any developments I'm unaware of?

Savage Clone 06.02.2006 12:56 PM

Found a Pavement related rarity at work this week...
Pale Horse Riders "Vituperate" E.P.
Nice magic marker lettering!

Very tough call. Dependent upon mood, that title can shift from S&E, Crooked Rain, and Wowee Zowee.

Ah, the pressure!

Pax Americana 06.02.2006 03:18 PM

Jeez... are they gonna make delux versions of every Pavement record!? How much more can my wallet take...?

Obscure offshoot w/ Bob Nastanovich. Handmade cover on that one.

hey alex 06.02.2006 06:49 PM

kick ass, i was hoping they'd do wowee de. Time to listen to my wowee zowee, illegal cd-r edition. (i wasn't going to buy any pave becuz of this day of reissues... if it's 10-15 yrs old... hold on hope and you can get it with new shit). Fuck yea.

atari 2600 06.02.2006 06:51 PM

yeah I made that from the t-shirt in artrage for a pavement thread we had at the old board once where I shared some files.

Wowee Zowee is also my second favorite behind Crooked Rain, Crooked Rain.

IntoTheGroovey 06.02.2006 06:55 PM

Figures I just bought the current cd like a few months ago.

krastian 06.02.2006 07:29 PM

Thank God. It's my favorite as well.

Dan 06.02.2006 08:17 PM

I think Wowee Zowee is definitely the most fun to listen to, even though I think every single release of theirs is nearly perfect.

I've got a sealed copy of Slanted and Enchanted coming in the mail on 180g vinyl, and Rather Ripped just shipped from Midheaven this afternoon, so I'm gonna be having a ball next week.

SonikJesus 06.02.2006 08:24 PM

Yes!! I just got CR CR and S&E deluxe a couple of months ago. Are they going to re-issue all of the Pavement albums? Cause if they are, I'll just wait to get the rest of the albums in deluxe format. I've yet to hear any other Pavement albums except the 2 previoudly mentione ones.

Dan 06.02.2006 08:41 PM

Malkmus calls Wowee Zowee "the last classic Pavement album", so it seems unlikely. I think they have less to draw from as far as extras for the last two albums too.

Same here.

hey alex 06.03.2006 12:38 AM

Yea, the most they'd do after Wowee de might be like to tye up any loose b-side ends, and that'd be unlikely move too.

I listened to wowee for the first time in awhile tonight. I've always had a little trouble really getting into it most times. But it was really fitting tonight. Had a nice refreshing feeling... and goes well with herb, as this seems to be a hot topic as of late. :) Ahm.

IntoTheGroovey 06.03.2006 01:09 AM

Honestly I don't think Brighten the Corners or Terror Twilight are worth a deluxe set.

fishmonkey 06.03.2006 06:58 AM

wow! or should i say Wowee Zowee!!
i didnt even know this was in the making,
fucking excellent, this news had made my day

truncated 06.03.2006 10:57 AM

Terror Twilight is the retarded son Pavement should have kept locked in the cellar.

a bit like that lad in Desperate Housewives,
i love Terror Twilight, my least fave Pave album is Brighten the Corners

elix it 06.03.2006 11:03 AM

Terror Twilight puts the 'shitty' in 'shitty album'... yeah, something like that.

Thanks for the info. Wowee Zowee is their best. Followed by CR/CR and SE in a close third.

Great band.

elix it 06.03.2006 11:13 AM

Crooked is great, but it's no Wowee. As for Slanted & Enchanted, it was my first album... fantastic, but still can't compete with Wowee Zowee.

Your opinion doesn't count because... well, it just doesn't.

elix it 06.03.2006 11:21 AM

NEWSFLASH: I AM NOT YOUR DOG

and no, I did not see the poll.

sonic sphere 06.04.2006 09:02 AM

great news i'll defo have to pick that one up

atsonicpark 06.04.2006 10:08 AM

Yeah, it's their best.

THey already said they're going to reissue em all around the time crooked came out.

IntoTheGroovey 06.04.2006 10:21 AM

Brighten the Corners is good (not great), but most of Terror Twilight is downright boring.

TheMadcapLaughs 06.04.2006 05:45 PM

brighten the corners is fucking pure pop amazingness, you guys that are dissin it are a bunch of assholes. terror twilight is good too.

hey alex 06.04.2006 07:13 PM

brighten the corners and terror twilight both have moments, but you gotta admit they lack the magic of the first three. Hell even wowee lacks the magic of S&E and CRCR, but wowee, i've recently discovered, has a different kind of magic... the kind of magic you only feel when aimlessly cruising to it.
By the time corners was made hte magic got confused, by twilight it was defused.

TheMadcapLaughs 06.04.2006 07:25 PM

Brighten the Corners is probably my favorite, I got into them after they broke up I will admit. So I feel I dont have the historical bias that alot of people have. I have heard and love all of pavements albums. Slanted is really cool and so is Crooked Rain, but I just can't listen to them anymore. Its just TO ME they got old faster than Wowee Zowee or Brighten the Corners. Every song on Brighten the Corners is a winner and they are all so varied. Terror Twilight is really good too, but I will admit it seems a lesser album. If any other band put it out though, they would be highly praised.

TheMadcapLaughs 06.04.2006 07:27 PM

Brighten the Jerks

oops double post

the ikara cult 06.08.2006 11:40 PM

Wicked, something even less coherant than Wowee Zowee itself.
I dont want them to reform, Malkmus is great on his own at the minute. But if they did i would still travel to the ends of the earth (well in the south of england) to see them.
