favorite six organs of admittance record?

I'll go with Dust and Chimes though School of the Flower comes close...

Great band.. I just hope the next release is a bit different... and by different, I don't mean more of his girlfriend singing...

o o o 04.05.2008 07:29 AM

for me, school of the flower.

i like dark noontide, too.

Savage Clone 04.05.2008 07:30 AM

Dust and Chimes, Sun Awakens, Dark Noontide

sarramkrop 04.05.2008 07:54 AM

Dark Noontide but I like them all very much.

GravitySlips 04.05.2008 08:20 AM

andrei 04.05.2008 09:12 AM

Hard to name one... maybe i'll go with The Manifestation, but i love them all

BTW, Days Of Blood is out now on vinyl (500 Run)!!!

PAULYBEE2656 04.05.2008 11:02 AM

The Sun Awakens Is Pretty Special And So Too Is Shelter But My Vote Goes To School Of The Flower

batreleaser 04.05.2008 11:52 AM

dust and chimes is beautiful, the sun awakens is great, i also have always loved the manifestation ep

jimbrim 04.05.2008 12:59 PM

the sun awakens, followed by school of the flower

Everyneurotic 04.05.2008 01:02 PM

the sun awakens, perfect balance between his songwriter sensibilities, his acoustic playing as well as his electric, more psych side.

Bollocks_to_Pop 04.05.2008 05:05 PM

I have only three of his albums but my favorite in order are:
Songs For Octavio Paz
Dark Noontide
Shelter From The Ash

dnorsen 04.06.2008 12:47 PM

school of flower
the sun awakens
& that s/t cdr that is all singer song writer tunes ...

the days of blood lp is great. i did the original art and had a bunch of copies for a long time then got a copy of lp the other month. the sound has been cleaned up and sounds amazing on lp. highly recommended!

krastian 04.06.2008 06:13 PM

All are of pretty equal awesomeness, but if I had to pick I'd say School of the Flower.

Tokolosh 04.07.2008 02:44 AM

The Sun Awakens, but I like them all.

New EP by band "goatflower" (which I guess is some improv thing with members of Current 93 and Magik Markers but is mainly a Six Organs related thing). Haven't heard anyone mention this at all.

Derek 07.10.2008 10:48 AM

It's not very good...

pbradley 07.10.2008 11:19 AM

Never cared to attempt finding their music.

andrei 07.10.2008 11:26 AM

Free lossless (well, almost) download of the CD-R that came with Empty The Sun book here: http://emptythesun.com/emptythesun.html

You like John Fahey, right? I can't see a Fahey fan (moreso a Basho fan but still) not enjoying Six Organs. Beautiful finger picked acoustic guitar with middle eastern influences, drones, odd bouts of percussion, occassional bouts of lovely vocals. Just great.

Yeah, I've heard that. But if I wanted more stuff like Fahey I would listen to more Fahey instead of some pretentiously named folk revival group. Maybe I'll come around some day but I don't feel the urge.

atsonicpark 07.10.2008 01:20 PM

Haha okay. It's not that much like Fahey -- it's just something I think a Fahey fan would like.

Yeah, the band name sucks, but it's really good music, I promise....

I bought it at a Six Organs gig a couple of months ago. It's not very good indeed. Looks pretty ugly too, generic CDR in a folded piece of paper, edition of 100 I think.
Supposedly there are other releases by Goatflower coming up later this year.

atsonicpark 07.11.2008 03:12 AM

Hm.

Everyneurotic 07.11.2008 10:58 AM

i don't know, shelter from the ash is below average for ben, maybe he's getting lazy...

sarramkrop 01.11.2009 07:32 AM

New rarities record 'RTZ' is coming out on the 20th of January.

I'm sure it will be worth for 'Warm Earth, Which I've Been Told' alone, from the 2003 split with Vibracathedral Orchestra. Some of the best music EVER.

Derek 08.28.2010 03:08 PM

I've changed my mind about Luminous Night... the record really is fantastic.

Should I drop £20 for RTZ? Hmmmm.

Moshe 08.29.2010 01:08 AM

school of the flower

Derek 08.29.2010 07:40 AM

Yeah Moshe, School of the Flower is my favourite too.

Rather_Ripped 10.15.2014 04:21 PM

Does anyone know or can figure out this tuning

Rather_Ripped 10.17.2014 12:28 AM

Does anyone know any of the tunings used on Dust and chimes and Dark noontide?
It seems very slack- maybe some form of C or B tuning

Severian 10.18.2014 03:41 PM

School of the Flower, no question.

Rather_Ripped 11.08.2014 06:10 PM

Can anyone upload the first Six organs record. Can't find it anywhere.
