Okay so to continue this... Favourite labels anyone?

Mine:

Paw Tracks

Warp Records
Constellation
Kranky
SYR (ahah)
Ecstatic Peace!
Load Records

I probably forgot loads of labels... Also, it doesn't mean that I do not those labels perfectly, but at least I respect them a lot.

Agreed. Actually I don't know many good Polydor bands but EMI still have real good stuff, even if I'm not really into their marketing strategies and all

Toilet & Bowels 04.01.2008 03:21 PM

it will take too long to write a list of all the labels whose i have been able to rely upon over the years, but the one label that over that has most consistently supplied me with awesomeness is siltbreeze

uhler 04.01.2008 03:31 PM

oh yeah, i forgot motown and stax. i guess i got caught up in all my whiteness.

Phlegmscope 04.01.2008 03:47 PM

I don't really pay attention to these kind of things, but I suppose labels like Amphetamine Reptile, Touch 'n' Go, Ektro, Fonal, Siltbreeze, Flying Nun, Bad Vugum, Trash Can, Southern Lord etc... have provided me good shit to listen to.

StevOK 04.01.2008 04:22 PM

mmm...probably Matador.

Norma J 04.01.2008 05:10 PM

Specifically leaving off Kill Rock Stars, K, Sub Pop, and SST due to drop in quality over time. Everything I listed, I honestly like most of the catalog that I've heard.

ZEROpumpkins 04.02.2008 03:26 AM

Matador, Warp, Touch and Go, Kill Rock Stars, Drag City, 4AD,

sarramkrop 04.02.2008 04:50 AM

Impossible to list them all. A random list of them:

Darla
Clearspot
Wurlitzer Jukebox/Earworm
Ecstatic Peace
Warp
4AD
Trojan
Soul Jazz
Mego
Rough Trade
Touch and Go/Quarterstick
Definitive Jux
Thrill Jokey
Def Jam
Drag City
Creation (the golden age)

ZEROpumpkins 04.02.2008 05:03 AM

Oh, and of course Planet Mu and Rephlex records.

pbradley 04.02.2008 05:07 AM

It is really hard for me to pay attention to labels. For some reason I just kind of ignore them although I do listen to a bit from Touch and Go, Matador, SST and what have you. I don't know. Maybe I put more stock into "how you sound" over "who you know"? That sounds condescending and I don't mean to be.

Moshe 04.02.2008 05:07 AM

smalltown superjazzz
ecstatic peace
atavistic

impulse!

ZEROpumpkins 04.02.2008 05:11 AM

Oh yeah, SST as well.

sarramkrop 04.02.2008 05:15 AM

Well, some of us said that it is impossible to list them all. Excellent call for Impulse! Moshe. That record label is gold.

ZEROpumpkins 04.02.2008 05:20 AM

Scam

sarramkrop 04.02.2008 05:27 AM

Bloody Fist Records? I am not sure, though, did they put out only Breakcore (ew!) stuff?
