lucid dreams
anybody have these? anybody train for them? I'm going to try a technique for them this weekend, where you sleep for 5 hours, wake up, and for one hour think only about lucid dreaming. Then you go back to sleep thinking about wanting to have a lucid dream. In tests this has a 60% sucess rate.
|
60% is a very small amount.
|
I suck at even remembering my dreams?
|
Why don't I ever question the weird things I see in dreams? I just go with them as if everything's normal. Maybe I don't ask enough questions when I'm awake. Rarely am I aware that I'm dreaming.
|
for the first time the other night, i was aware that i was dreaming during a dream. i'd rather not be aware of it though.
usually my dreams aren't far fetched. but when i sleep in a different place or bed than i usually do, my dreams can get pretty insane. |
This used to really interest me, and I did have a couple. I suppose since I havent been focused on it for a while, it hasnt seemed to happen since then.
The idea is totally cool to me though. I was able to make choices and things, knowing I was dreaming. i twas weird. |

I used to have lucid dreams when I was younger. Now I just dream that I've woken up and i'm getting ready for school etc. Basically all my dreams are variations of this.
|
I only dream a pitch black void. Sometimes it is red, but then I awake and is the sun hitting my face.
|
Haha, that's why I like where my room is in my house. The window is towards the west. But sometimes the sun shines off the window of nextdoor and hits my eye.
|
I think this is a topic of debate among whoever the professionals are that study this sort of thing. If the eye movement measurement is valid, then it really is interesting. I haven't looked this stuff up in a while, but my impression is that the actual measurement taken that makes lucid dreaming anything more than a pipe dream is under heavy fire.
With that said, I've had maybe ten clear cut lucid dreams, as far as I know. Most of them were very brief and involved removing myself from a nightmare - but maybe three or four were longer lasting and more interesting. This stuff needs to be taken with a grain of salt though. I mean if it was real, don't you think there would be actual flourishing lucid dream academies by now? I currently tend to lean towards the idea that you realize you are dreaming is still just a part of the dream and that no real awakening actually occurs. |
I Have Lucid Robo Dreamz

Why? |
thats not a bad idea . whenevner i've realized that im dreaming while in one , ive actually done somethign about it once ( i flew, a pretty standard dream occurance ) . the other times, i continued to do as i was , or stopped doing anythign together , after which i scolded myself for being so boring . perhaps just thinkign that i was aware was all part of the dream then , and ive never actually lucidly dreamt .
|
i do pretty frequently
i had one recently where someone came up to me and told me j. mascis died and in the dream i started flipping out and i went to his wikipedia page to see if it was true and i could walk around INSIDE it and it was like this big forest with all these weeping willows with a lake made out of cellophane and construction paper swans floating around and all these plasticine piggies roaming around. there were also nondescript words flying around in mid-air. |
I've been trying to...all I've been able to do is realize in my dream "I'm not dreaming" when actually I am.
|
when you return to sleep after sleep deprivation it usually results in lucid dreaming
|
like in the same night or after a while?

the other day i had a dream that i met a coven of satanic witches and one of them was performing a ritual to ask the devil what would be an appropriately satanic name for her new born child, the devil told her she should name her child Wayne Helmsley.

Jagermeister is a good drink, but the dreams that come by drinking loads of it are of the shattered variety. |
Eating cheese before bed supposedly induces dreams, strange myth. I've had a few experiences of lucid dreaming, only seems to occur when something in the dream strikes as too surreal, something that doesn't add up in reality, like the ability to fly or lay eggs may be. The other times I experienced it, I believe it was triggered by these repetitive dreams I was having, I would suddenly remember mid dream, "hey, I've had this dream before".
I always find my dreams end badly, terribly even, even though I want a nice ending. I think this is because of all the gruesome horror movies I saw at a very young age with my older cousin. |

well I dunno about the horror movies, but as far as triggering lucid dreams goes - the word on the street (pillow?) is that if, while in your dream, you come across say a lightswitch - it will not work right in your dream. So if you flick it on/off that is a prime trigger to become lucid. There are tons of other ones too. Supposedly you can't read text in a dream - so if you see text, then BAM enter lucidity. There really isn't much evidence for all of this though. Dreams are very capable of deceiving you to the point where you think you are awake and 'in control' - and while that dream might be the most interesting one you'll have in six months, it means very little if it (the phenomenon) can't be reproduced regularly. and wormwood / absinthe is illegal in the states, yes. |
ah i thought so
interesting theory/info on the lucid dreams too |
