The world's longest noise track
 

Apparently Solypsis, Nxfxtxex and DEADHORSESEYFUCK are working on a noise piece that will last an entire week. Not sure if it is particularly a good idea, but it could be an interesting one. Found this on here:

I feel sorry for whatever noise mag dude has to review that. Might miss the deadline.

excellent. i kind of like the idea that it will go on and you can dip into it anytime you like.

It'll be great background music for when you feel like lounging.

La Monte Young did something similar a number of years ago, it's not a terribly original idea. It could be good if the noise IS good.

I had night-long noise jam sessions while working nightshitfs in steelworks in northern Wales a couple of years ago. The machines were doing all this wonderful noise and sometimes I just stopped working and listened to the sound.

Some machines are excellent at producing noise. The drony sound that some of them make is sometimes better than some noise records themselves. I like it when you walk past a building site and you hear some of them jamming freely. The fan next to me at the moment is the new Merzbow.

the fan in my bathroom is a massive influence on me. seriously.

Do you have one of those standard ones that you can easily remove the front off? Sometimes I move the front slightly towards different directions so I can hear a variation of that noise. Sad, I know. I'm sure the boiling kettle has been a close collaborator of Philip Jeck for a few years.

there are a group of germans doing a cage peace where the tempo is marked as slowly. the group have planned the piece to last for 692 years and are about 5 years in.

I've read of that too, and it sounds like a much more interesting idea. Do you know of any website where you can read about their progress?

I think so. I seem to remember someone (on another board I post on) suggesting it as a thing to do in a thread about things to do in New York.

i'm doing a piece based on john cage's 4'33 that lasts my whole life, the life of my children, etc. it's going to be a fucking hit!

seriously though, i'm all about ridiculous noise experiments (one time i made a cd of alternating dangerously high and low frequencies that has made everyone sick who's heard it and one time i played doom metal with about 10 of my friends for what was supposed to be 24 hours but got shot down after 10), but this is just fucking ridiculous. who's really going to care..

Holywell, near Flint. Nice village, nice people, great chaps in the factory, always taking me out for a cigarette break when they found out I was a foreigner.

All the noise kidz around here need get together to make one that's two weeks and and 3 days
