Music prescriptions

If music is medication, what do you normally prescribe yourself for particular moods you're in?

gmku 04.04.2007 11:44 AM

Music that suits my particular mood.

sarramkrop 04.04.2007 11:46 AM

Does that mean that heavy doses of Rolling Stones are keeping you alive, then?

gmku 04.04.2007 12:12 PM

It means I've just snorted my dog's feces.

Jt 04.04.2007 12:13 PM

I just snorted Brian Jones.

gmku 04.04.2007 12:14 PM

I mainlined Jones and took a tab of Mick Taylor.

sarramkrop 04.04.2007 12:22 PM

No, it's not. I'm gonna shoot some Six Organs Of Admittance to prove it.

that's good stuff. maybe a little more cut than I'm used to, but it gets me off.

lately, I've been freebasing Pavement. lots and lots of Pavement.

Jt 04.04.2007 12:43 PM

I'm going to roll some Phil Collins later. Nothing heavy.

Rob Instigator 04.04.2007 01:03 PM

whenever I feel overwhelmed by shit in life I listen to
Codeine
Frigid Stars LP, or The White Birch

whenever I feel overly animated or uptight I rock
UNSANE - Singles

whenever I need to wind down and just zone out I put on
Sonic Youth - Diamond Sea (25 minute version)

For general malaise:

gmku 04.04.2007 07:17 PM

Brian Jonestown's Their Satanic Majesties' Second Request always gives me a boost, for some reason.

!@#$%! 04.04.2007 09:03 PM

lightning bolt suppositories
dissipate the morning fog & get you going

sonicl 04.05.2007 01:38 AM

For general fatigue, I prescribe a dose of guitar-based ambient drone, to be taken as and when required. Recommended brands: Keith Fullerton Whitman, Rafael Toral, Oren Ambachi, Encomiast*

* Encomiast is a non-guitar-based substitute for the guitar-based products, but in our clinical tests has proven to be no less effective than the guitar-based brands.

youthoftomorrow 04.05.2007 02:17 AM

when i'm depressed, i'll take a few hundred miligrams of Loveless and feel better.

when i'm reading science fiction, i'll freebase some Panopticon.

when i'm full of energy but don't have anywhere to go (as is often the case in this godforsaken town), i'll snort a few lines of Hypermagic Mountain and shuffle around my room with an air guitar.

SpectralJulianIsNotDead 04.05.2007 02:17 AM

My prescription right now:

Scott Walker - Amsterdam
Mission Of Burma- That's How I Escaped My Certain Fate
My Bloody Valentine- I Believe
Sonic Youth- Tuff Gnarl
Joy Division- Something Must Break

musicfallinglikesnow 04.05.2007 05:01 AM

Brian Eno. Anything drone by him.

musicfallinglikesnow 04.05.2007 05:01 AM

Or Can's "Future Days", but not so effective.

musicfallinglikesnow 04.05.2007 05:01 AM

In deppresive moods, I mean.
