favorite Scotch?
y'all drink Scotch? What kind do you like?
I usually keep a bottle of Johnny Walker Red stocked in the bar for a cheaper choice. I'm pretty sure I still have a bottle of Black around that I don't touch as often. I've got a bottle of Lagavulin 15 that I usually try to keep for more 'special occasions.' I was gifted a bottle of Glenmorangie 10 that I find quite smooth. I'm blanking out at the moment... I feel like I might have another bottle or two that I'm not remembering. But but but I'm curious what others like. I try to keep a small selection on hand as above of different kinds of Scotch for different tastes. |
basically: laphroaig 10
i don't like clutter |
I like Laphroaig but it's got a slightly medicinal taste that people either like or they don't.
|
yeah definitely that's the selling point for me. the seasalt/seaweed/iodine with the peat. campfire on the beach. with a malty undertow. DA BEST.
i keep a bottle of the macallan for my wife. she likes sherry bombs. |
I always liked Glenfiddich. Unfortunately I don't really know how it compares to other brands because I am not a regular scotch whiskey drinker. I stopped drinking spirits and wines a couple of years ago. A few months ago a friend bought me a bottle of tequila, which I had never tasted before, and decided to open it while I had people round for dinner. Best drink I had in years. I'm still not going back to the heavy stuff though. A few Stellas or some Guinness if I am craving something fancy.

I have not tried Laphroag, but you guys got me intrigued.

it's an islay scotch, if you like lagavulin chances are laphroaig will suit you as well...
PORKEEEEEEEEE!!! good to see you good and healthy |

i'll google it btw, i really love TALISKER. smoky awesome. i just don't keep it around in the house. |
I've found I often enjoy Glenlivit and also Monkey Shoulder
|
what the heck is Monkey Shoulder? I feel like that's something that you'd pick up because of the name on the bottle. Like, I kind of want the Ron Burgundy Scotch just as a 'conversation piece' when we have company.

Macallan
Balvenie Dalmore Glenfiddich 15yo is fine (12yo as well, a bit too fruity though) Bruichladdich also Japanese ones are good - I remember buying some basic Suntory in Tokyo and being amazed how good it was |

I picked up some Chivaz Regal which is a really light and smooth blend. Digging it.
Also picked up some Famous Grouse Smoky Black which is decent. Need to get back to some single malt tho. |

i love that terrible terrible movie it's great |
I prefer Irish and Japanese whiskies. Scotch gives me rocket fulled heartburn.

cheers |
yeah thanks for the heads up man. A man can't afford to always keep Lagavulin in the house haha.
|
costco sells them for about $10 less than trader joe's in my area
|
Laphroiag is my favourite but I'm more often to be found drinking Lidl's budget answer to Laphroiag - Ben Bracken https://scotchwhisky.com/magazine/la...-single-malts/ (the green one is quite smoky)
