Sugest me a great fucking record!

I want some new music, but I can't decide.
So decide for me.
This time, I'm looking for something with a bit of rhythm

Confusion is Dante 02.24.2007 09:16 PM

Check out Red Sparowes' 'Every Red Heart Shines Toward the Sun'......
It's instrumental, and very rhythmic......The guys are very talented musicians, and it's very easy to get 'lost' in their music.

Sheriff Rhys Chatham 02.24.2007 09:20 PM

cool, ill check it out

noumenal 02.24.2007 10:32 PM

that's a good album too

k-krack 02.24.2007 10:39 PM

A great album for fucking, hm... Barry White never fails.

k-krack 02.24.2007 10:41 PM

But seriously... uhhh, Check out Sofa's grey. If yr into like.. Big Black and Joy Division and Slint and shit like that, you'd fucking love it.

demonrail666 02.24.2007 11:02 PM

If you're looking for new stuff I have no idea, but if you don't mind something old with a bit of rhythm then why not listen back to some Minutemen.

On the "all time" list check out Atlantis by Sun Ra, and also Cosmic Tones for Mental Therapy.

On the "awesome recent faves" list check out the new Explosions in the Sky - All of a Sudden, I Miss Everybody which is a double cd with an amazing album and equally great remixes of each album track.

Marry me.

Anyway, sticking to the purpose of this thread, check out Yowie. There's more rhythm there than having 1000 Behold... the Arctopus records played at once.

Savage Clone 02.25.2007 04:30 PM

I saw Yowie this past summer.
REALLY good.
Holy moley.

Cardinal Rob 02.25.2007 04:33 PM

Savage Clone, I am impressed beyond words.

Savage Clone 02.25.2007 04:44 PM

As was I.
They reminded me of the early 80s Swedish group Kraldjursanstalten, which nothing else had really ever reminded me of before.
Amazing musicianship that was anything but "uptight" sounding, and nearly impossible to pigeonhole or wrap my head around.
They were playing as part of a festival, and I had no idea who they were before I saw them.
Instant convert.

Cardinal Rob 02.25.2007 04:53 PM

I think they only ever gigged at the End Times festival, and then left music completely after one album (Cryptooology), which should be arriving at my doorstep in a day or two. I can trust teh Sheriff will give these chaps a listen.
