Aqua Teen Hunger Force colon Movie Film For Theaters

foxforce5 02.22.2007 12:00 AM

I've had an open contest with some friends for the last few years to see who can make the first -funny- 'semi-colon joke'. This is the closest I've seen anyone come. (That is to making a -funny- semi-colon joke.)

hey alex 02.22.2007 12:04 AM

It's also the closest I've movie get to being most certainley bad reviews across the board. I'm calling it. No newspaper is going to like it!

foxforce5 02.22.2007 12:09 AM

Any reason a newspaper would have for not liking the movie, as in: "Not funny, incomprehensible, sporting a wardrobe 12 seasons out of date, pandering for laughs to a deluded few", could also be said about the comic strip "Nancy" which has been foisted upon us for years by those same papers.

hey alex 02.22.2007 12:13 AM

I've never seen a movie that panders to stoners get good reviews. And newspapers, the funnies, don't know shit about being funny.

Plus it's ATHF- a show about talking food. I've already seen negative press--- even before the bombs.

Personally I'd probably see it if I were with my friends and we snuck in. I like the show alright, wouldn't pay 9$ to see it for an hour and a half (esp since 15 almost pushes it).

EyeballGrowth 02.22.2007 12:22 AM

eh, whatever I'll see it. The show really grew on me. I was totally turned off by it at first cause of the talking food items but the comedy is fucking hilarious. It's reminds me of Seinfeld or curb your enthusiasm

SpectralJulianIsNotDead 02.22.2007 12:26 AM

I'll see it because it will be a big outing for my friends and I just like Clerks 2 was.

davenotdead 02.22.2007 12:54 AM

its the best show on tv...i have converted all housemates/cousins/friends/ and siblings' friends who have given it a chance...they all liked it a lot sooner than I did...I hated it for 2 weeks after the first time I saw it...then I just loved it for some reason...it pwns so hard.

pantophobia 02.22.2007 01:02 AM

so what happened to the creators of the show/movie? weren't they arrested cause of boston's stupidity?

It has some really good episodes and some really awful ones.

Hopefully the movie will be more along the lines of:
the robot ghost of christmas past from the future episode
The Broodwich episode
the Foreigner belt episode
the first mc p pants episode
the dirtfoot episode
the deadzone parody episode
the Ol' Drippy episode

And not like:
the t-shirt of the undead
the Shake super hero episode
the Zakk Wylde episode
the deleted scenes episode
the dieting episode
or the first 3 episodes (rabbot, leprechauns, bus of the undead)

cryptowonderdruginvogue 02.22.2007 02:21 AM

they're all good

oh they weren't just arrested. They had their houses raided at like 2 am, black bags over their heads, GITTTT ON THE GROUUUUUUUUNDD NOWWWWW type of deal. Fucking rediculous, over illuminated signs that were in 8 different cities? what the fuck

davenotdead 02.22.2007 04:25 AM

t-shirt of the dead is one of the best ones ever...the only 2 i don't like are dusty gonzagas and the penis/dick episode...

Turner Broadcasting (owned by Time-Warner), which owns Cartoon Network, was fined two million dollars by the city of Boston to compensate for their "emergency response effort." The head of Cartoon Network was forced to resign. In total, there were nine of the Lite-Brite-style Mooninite characters set-up in various parts of the city. What's more, they had been there a couple of weeks already! What should also be noted is that the same promotion was carried out in other cities: New York, L.A., Chicago, Austin, Portland, Philadelphia, San Francisco, Atlanta and Seattle; none of which had the same issues arise.

afterthefact 02.22.2007 08:44 AM

Because Boston is ridiculous. It's a bit too conservative to get jokes like that. I'm sure that if they did the same thing here in Cincinnati, they would get the same response.

Ripchord 02.22.2007 11:41 AM

I'm so excited for it.

I personally don't like ones that just push the limits in digusting. Like the incredibly graphic torturing of Santa Claus. To me, if I can barely look at the TV screen, it is not quite as funny.

cryptowonderdruginvogue 02.22.2007 01:20 PM

HAHAHAHA!
that was the best!

floatingslowly 02.22.2007 01:27 PM

the movie better star MF Doom!

Boston, Massachusetts? Conservative? Are you kidding?

I get what you're referring to, Пятхъдесят Шест, after all, Boston is Ted and Edward M. Kennedy's stomping grounds.

But I also understand afterthefact's comment because
the conservatism originates from the amount of wealthy people that live there.

Iain 02.22.2007 05:36 PM

conservative with a lower case c rather than upper case.

I've seen a few ATHF and I still can't quite make my mind up. It certainly isn't laugh out loud hilarious most of the time but there is something endearing about it now and then.

i agree, but i don't find half-charred santa disgusting...the one where meatwad's banana-dog rapes Carl, and dick episode are the only ones that kinda go too far in the bad taste area....

I think the endearing part is the surrealism of some episodes.

Talking shrubs?
Giant genitalia running fast food restaurants?
Huh?

davenotdead 02.22.2007 10:19 PM

whats endearing is that the characters are actually quite developed...and the plot-lines are interesting and generally have a point...unlike most other famous shows in this mold (family guy is random and has gotten very repetetive of late)...south park is always out to prove some political agenda....etc...ATHF has good characters and they get more endearing with each viewing...well, most of the episodes get better with multiple viewings...

finding nobody 02.22.2007 10:28 PM

Easily one of the best things on TV. Adult Swim hardly shows it anymore! I'll beeing it in theaters for sure

k-krack 02.22.2007 10:31 PM

Fuckin' eh, Joel. Show's fucking GREAT, why all the hate in this thread???

youthoftomorrow 04.14.2007 03:06 AM

that was the funniest fucking thing i have ever fucking seen.

StevOK 04.15.2007 01:04 AM

Saw it today. It was completely ridiculous. It was great. I didn't really have high expectations, but you could never expect anything like that. The opening scene was just a little better than the rest of the movie, though.

atsonicpark 04.15.2007 01:06 AM

this is retarded.

k-krack 04.15.2007 01:11 AM

Holy shit, it's out?! WHoa, I'm behind! I gotta go see it!

atsonicpark 04.15.2007 01:56 AM

the show is great. but it can barely sustain an 11 minute episode without getting boring. NINETY MINUTES?

I really liked the Banana-Hand dog episode.

atsonicpark 04.15.2007 02:28 AM

the best adult swim show ever is 12 oz mouse! followed closely by super milk chan.

i had my doubts as well, but it worked.

and yes, the intro was the absolute best part.

There is a tiny clip of 12 Oz Mouse in the movie, and the ending theme song is done by 9 Pound Hammer, the same that does the theme for 12 Oz Mouse.

HaydenAsche 04.15.2007 12:32 PM

Great show. The movie didn't come to Willmar so I'll have to see it next weekend when I'm back in Minneapolis.

Ripchord 04.15.2007 03:13 PM

it's not playing anywhere near me, and it's raining like a motherfucker so i can't go anywhere. this sucks.
