There are a lot of ones I like that are pretty obvious, so I'll name one that most people probably won't think of: Jimi Hendrix 1983. . .(A Mermaid I Shall Be)

YEM
Lots more, but I'll leave it at that for now. |
I have nothing against two minute pop or punk gems, and have truly loved my share of those, but most of my favorite music goes on for over 10 minutes per track. For me to list my favorites would probably take half the night. The first 5 that come to mind instead?
Hawkwind - "Master of the Universe" preferably Space Ritual version Sonic Youth - "Radio-Amatoroj" Sun Ra & the Arkestra - "Atlantis" Velvet Underground - "Sister Ray" Autechre - "Drone" from the Peel Sessions Vol. 2 |

I just got a limited edition double cd of remixes of Explosions from the Sky tracks. I think every song easily qualifies for this thread. Some of it is just jaw droppingly amazing.

Once again I'm in agreement with Noumenal. But I'd also like to add Fushitsusha's I saw it, that which before I could only sense to the list, clocking in at 85+ minutes. Loads of Haino's tracks are long, but that one's my favourite.
The version of Sister Ray by VU on the live boxset (40+ mins) The last one by Les Rallizes Denudes on Live in Tochikawa (sp?) 1977. How long is Laurie Anderson's O Superman? That must come close. |
