Drug Problems

so, first i want to ask all of you nice people to keep this one serious, as much as you can.
does any of you ever had (or has now) serious drug problems. i obviously don't mean i-lost-my-car-and-aptment type of shit (since you obviously have a computer and a residence to type from), but one serious fiending for the drug might be enough. i leave alcohol and cigarettes aside, just because of their social accepted status. but an alcohol addiction fits.
this one is more for the illegal substances. cannabis might be left aside too, but i don't know. i know a person who claims he has a cannabis addiction, even though he gets how stupid it sounds. he just can't make a day w/o it and gets really fucked up if he doesn't have a stash. i think it's more of a brain game, but psychic withdrawal is a huge part of the shit (at least for me).
upper pills, downer pills, opiates, smack, crack (rock), meth, amph, all of the above...

anyone on the same boat?

al shabbray 08.20.2008 06:55 AM

not me but a freind of mine got big problem with taking speed.

MellySingsDoom 08.20.2008 06:57 AM

shentov - I was basically ordered to stop smoking cannabis after a session of smoking skunk weed made me incredibly paranoid and (ultimately) mentally sick. I have a predisposition to severe depression and serious paranoia (I have those two bitches well under control now, though :D ;)), so I'm exactly the sort of person who really shouldn't take it. I was never addicted to hash/weed, so never had to deal w/your friend's above situation. I will freely admit that I am addicted to ciggies, though :o

do you get medicated/persribed for the depression and paranoia?

MellySingsDoom 08.20.2008 07:13 AM

shentov - yes, am on anti-depressants (Citalopram), which I bascially have to take indefinitely. I'm used to the regime now, so now's it's second nature, like having a coffee first thing in the morning.

I wouldn't recommend my "regime" for everyone in my position (there is no such thing as a one-stop "cure" for M Health issues), but it works for me, so...the best thing I've learned though is being able to trust people and be far more open w/friends, family and loved ones. That's sorted me out far more than any amount of medication ever could...

ZEROpumpkins 08.20.2008 07:14 AM

I'm addicted to valium. And codeine. Nothing too serious though.

I'm also on anti-depressents, Melly (Zoloft 100mg)

MellySingsDoom 08.20.2008 07:14 AM

^^^"Dinsdale!!!!" :p ;)

ZEROpumpkins 08.20.2008 07:15 AM

Jesus, you're a fast poster. I edited my post, I dunno if you had enough time to see it.

MellySingsDoom 08.20.2008 07:16 AM

ZEROpumpkins - how are you coping with the Zoloft? I've heard mixed messages about that on MH boards here in the UK. I have no side-effects with Citalopram at all. Thank fuck I refused to take Seroxat though...

Danny Himself 08.20.2008 07:19 AM

I'm drug and alcohol free and I always have been. I'm not even tempted. I'm not on any medicine either.

My vice is fast food, and my best friend is caffeine.

he started it as a weekend drug. after some weeks he never slept one hour at the weekend, and was trashed at least the whole monday. after a while he used it more frequently, especially when he thinks he needs it to concentrate. school, work etc. he became really annoying when visiting him, because speedheads are just annoying or he missed his stuff and was going nuts.

It makes me dizzy loads, but no big problems. Wheather or not it's all in my head or not, I'd say it's working either way.

And as for the Dinsdale thing:
It was stuck in my head all day last Thursday, the whole "Spiny Norman" thing and I kept laughing at it whenever I thought of it. That part and The Bishop sketch are my favourite Python moments, and I've seen all the Flying Circus episodes and all the movies too.

atsonicpark 08.20.2008 07:20 AM

I pretty much have to take an oxy before I go to work. They're not prescribed to me, but it's very difficult for me to work without one.

shentov 08.20.2008 07:21 AM

i think my psychiatrist wants to put me on some anti depressant after my main therapy. i have mixed feeling w/ that too

al shabbray 08.20.2008 07:21 AM

oxy? what are these?

Danny Himself 08.20.2008 07:22 AM

Oxycodone?

Sure, speak to yout psych re meds. Remember though that the final decision is down to you (why I refused Seroxat after a recommend from a psych). Do as much research as you can, too - you can't have too much knowledge on this matter :) At the end of the day, you do what feels Right for you. Hang on in there, shentov :)

ZEROpumpkins - yeah, I love M Python's "The Holy Grail" and "Life Of Brian".

shentov 08.20.2008 07:29 AM

yeah. she says i've already killed too much endorphine receptors. i can feel this right now. shiznargh!

Can you elaborate please?
I've been diagnosed social phobia and have heard overall positive reactions to this medication by people with similar diagnosis. Haven't taken it at any part of my life though.

Green_mind 08.20.2008 07:50 AM

I know this guy who smokes smack, he says it is like having a constant flu. I have a friend who is big into coke, he constanly paranoid about his nose melting. I just smoke and the only problem I find with that is when I got nothing to do and everywhere is dry. :P

like having a constant flu? but where is the reason for him to smoke it then? (except his addiction)

shentov 08.20.2008 07:54 AM

withdrawing from smack feels like a bad bad bad flu, and thats only a little part of the journey. he obviously smokes the brown to keep the wd's at bay.

Sure, _slavo_ - Seroxat, when trialed in the UK, caused some users to fall so low they attempted suicide (in 1 or 2 cases, the trialers did kill themselves :(). This damning evidence was suppressed in the UK, because the makers of Seroxat and the UK Government wanted to push the whole "wonder drug" thing. I am very fucking dubious about Seroxat as a result - every person on an MH board that has taken it has had some sort of adverse effect...

al shabbray 08.20.2008 07:57 AM

okay, thanks for clearing. always wondered how smack ingeneral would feel like. there must be something really good about it.

shentov 08.20.2008 08:12 AM

oh yah, there is.

really interests me (not that I wanna try, just know)

Green_mind 08.20.2008 08:18 AM

well, the initial feeling must be good, but the damage it does is very bad. This guy I know has been on it since he was 13, his friends say they don't expect him to live past 30, very sad to hear, he seems like a nice guy.

al shabbray 08.20.2008 08:21 AM

shentov 08.20.2008 08:24 AM

haha i think i've just overexposed myself on the SY board.

floatingslowly 08.20.2008 08:24 AM

my best friend kicked horse (with the help of la policia and a Mr. Mike Ness). you can do it! good luck man.

me? nope, no problems. :)

Cantankerous 08.20.2008 11:20 AM

okay if you want to be serious, i'll get serious

in the last six months i've kicked both a huge cocaine habit and a pretty bad opiate addiction as well (i've only recently stopped taking methadone for it)

Fucking hell. Seriously, well fucking done. That must taken a lot of strength for you to do that. Well, even if no-one else here is, I'm proud of you for doing that, so there :)
