the misfits

I just made a mix CD with my favorite 42 misfits songs on it oh man it's rockin it's a ghouls' night out.

anyone hear about the merzfits album? merzbow doing 100 misfits songs all in one take. i got a shitty bootleg of it, all you can hear is feedback. i wonder.

i also bought a new mike patton album where he sits silently in a room for 70 minutes. it's limited to 5 copies.

fuck yeah.

Everyneurotic 05.21.2006 12:33 PM

i also have a mixfits cd!!!

i don't listen to it much though, every once in a while a 12 year old emo kid in a crimson ghost tshirt gets possessed and tries to rip my front door to get the cd and don't get called poser anymore

I have a Misfits story. There's been this middle-aged punk rocker dude coming in for a few years now and I've always had the feeling he was someone. So we did some Googling and found out that he is none other than Bobby Steele, the dude who played guitar for the Misfits on everything up until the Halloween single and now plays in the Undead and is a right-wing blogger.

My pick for one Misfits song might be children in heat or devil's whorehouse...fuck!

Trasher02 05.11.2009 02:03 PM

Die, die my darling!!!
Followed by Skulls.

dionysusundone 05.11.2009 02:33 PM

American Nightmare. Song doesn't get enough love. The Misfits at their most Suicide-ish...

Fav Misfits
Astro Zombies & Die Die My Darling as heard on Collection 1

Sonic Youth 37 05.11.2009 02:47 PM

Astro Zombies or Skulls

I don't have a Misfits mix, but Walk Among Us and Earth AD fit on one CD-R

noisereductions 05.11.2009 02:51 PM

"Skulls"

But whatever. Misfits rule. I love them. Big time.

blunderbuss 05.12.2009 12:56 AM

Have you seen Dave Pajo has done a Misfits covers LP?

PAJO - Scream With Me

Angelfuck
Hybrid Moments
Where Eagles Dare
Bullet
Teenagers from Mars
Devil's Whorehouse
I Turned Into a Martian
Horror Business
Attitude

limited edition 1000
130gm vinyl with compact disc
spraypaint with 1 color serigraph on French paper
co-released with Wildlife Vinyl

I love his cover of Last Caress. If this is good as that, it could make me quite happy.

I've never actually heard any Misfits at all, ever. Hopefully that doesn't make me a bad person.

Then you have something to look forward to

One song:

I TURNED INTO A MARTIAN

Better_Than_You 05.12.2009 09:44 AM

why hasn't anyone said last carress?? too cliche?

first time i heard that was in my boyfriends garage and i was like, "kill a baby? as long as its dead? wha-wha-whaaat??!"

it shocked me and i listened to TSOL growing up!

floatingslowly 05.12.2009 10:20 AM

^^^ I think it's because NOFX covered that song and people 'round these parts hate themselves some NOFX.

this is a good thing to know if you ever feel like trolling (note: "walmart" works as well as NOFX). watch!

floatingslowly 05.12.2009 10:20 AM

you know who I like? NOFX. they do a badass cover of Last Caress. does anyone know if you can buy their albums at walmart? it's the only place I shop.

Rob Instigator 05.12.2009 10:56 AM

is it that we hate NOFX? or is it that we hate what NOFX, ALL, SCREECHING WEASEL, etc have WROUGHT? so many pussy ass pop-punk loser bands in the wake of them.

floatingslowly 05.12.2009 11:22 AM

NOFX is old school. they've been around since the 80's!

Rob Instigator 05.12.2009 12:30 PM

so was screeching weasel, ALL/descendents, etc! that is my point. They unleashed a barrage of copycat suburbia bands playing pop-punky genero-rock.

TheMadcapLaughs 05.12.2009 12:31 PM

one song, gotta be london dungeon or night of the living dead, but wait bullet, she, nevermind.

atsonicpark 05.12.2009 12:44 PM

I don't really like nofx aside from a song here or there. "The Decline" is one of the best songs ever, though. Early Screeching Weasel and early Descendants rule.

floatingslowly 05.12.2009 12:46 PM

^^^ if you don't LOVE NOFX, something may be wrong with you!

NOFX sound nothing like these guys! they suck HARD (especially the descendants)!

NOFX sings songs about their vaginas, taking drugs and being a jewish skinhead (oi! oi! oy vey!).

on top of this, they can be funnier than the dead milkmen or more serious than, say, a band like The Jesus and Mary Chain.

fucking NOFX, man!! punk rock gawds walking the earth in human form!!!

Glice 05.12.2009 12:59 PM

No. Just no.

So it's ok for one band to be the worst sort of shit, but as soon as another band copies that band being shit, it's shit?

BRAIN FAIL.

demonrail666 05.12.2009 01:01 PM

I got the Misfits 'Walk among Us' album because it kept getting mentioned in the same breath as albums I love. It's unmitigating shit.

atsonicpark 05.12.2009 01:04 PM

huh

Sonic Youth 37 05.12.2009 01:07 PM

On the subject of covers, mid/late 90s AFI did some great covers of "Demonomania", "We Bite", and "Last Caress" Sayin'

floatingslowly 05.12.2009 01:08 PM

the british know nothing of NOFX, the misfits or punk rock in general!

you may as well be from another planet, as far as I'm concerned.

you have to listen to it more,a nd LOUD, and with a sense of humor.

amerikangod 05.12.2009 01:09 PM

'Last Caress' ... I got my copy of it at Walmart. Although on the Walmart-edited CD instead of calling them the Misfits they called them NOFX for some reason?

ANYWAY, GREAT SONG.
