Why the rethorical question? It's been 16 years, yes. And you know it.

Rob Instigator 04.08.2010 05:19 PM

all the fucking losers that aped him and aped what they felt to be his "style" got it all wrong. Motherfucker had a hell of a sense of humor, dark and mean and hilarious. none of those copycat fuckos have a clue.

Pookie 04.08.2010 05:20 PM

Is there some significance to a 16 year death anniversary?

HAS it been 16 years? Has anybody checked?

Pookie 04.08.2010 05:21 PM

That'll be 18 years since I last saw them live.

Has it really been 18 years?*

*Yes

Rob Instigator 04.08.2010 05:23 PM

Has it really been five minutes since this post? Time now - 2326; time of post - 2321. Yes, yes it has. VERIFIED.

Edit: of course, the SYG clock is slightly different to my own; the time of this post according to the forum is 2327. INTERESTING.

exactly. Kurt Cobain was like an Iggy Pop version of Frank Zappa, I simply loved him.

Seriously? You seriously want to use this beautiful language to put those words in that particular order? Proust is probably turning in his grave. Twice, thanks to that horrendous cliche I just used.

yes I do, I'm sorry if you don't like it. why don't you take that antagonism to some hater thread and stop sabotaging a memorial, jesus at least have a bit of class and not crass.

Satan 04.08.2010 05:39 PM

goodnight, sweet prince

Genteel Death 04.08.2010 05:56 PM

To mark the occasion of this very special anniversary, today I sat on the window sill in my bedroom and stared at the world passing by. At one point Kurt's face appeared in the form of ghostly reflection on the window. ''Hi'' said he, to which I replied ''Hi Kurt, I'm grieving because this is the 16th year you've been dead''. Today being a very sunny day, and because of the particularly sombre mood brought by this, like I said, special occasion, I didn't immediatly notice the spectral, Kurt-like visage on the mirror turning into an exasperated, fading contraction that, I swear, muttered: '' Oh for fuck's sake, not another thread about my-very-dead-self on THAT forum!!''.

hence "RIP"

this was not a trendy Cobain thread, it is a commemorative thread, and it is very apt date for such a commemoration, I'm sorry if all you guys are so damned jaded about it. You could have simply chose to ignore this thread like the countless others. I hope that 16 years after you die a bunch of assholes DON'T antagonize YR memorial threads on SYG, after all it is as I said to Glice, in poor taste and having no class, you crass bastards. Have a bit more raspect for the dead :(

atsonicpark 04.08.2010 06:36 PM

spank tru >

davenotdead 04.08.2010 07:20 PM

i just don't see the point of death anniversaries

pbradley 04.08.2010 07:28 PM

Yeah, I saw another think about Cobain's anniversary elsewhere.

So I listened to the Wipers.

jon boy 04.08.2010 07:50 PM

has it been that long since i did a number two? it has and here i go.

SONIC GAIL 04.12.2010 08:38 AM

I can remember that day when I heard the news. I was in pottery class and my friend told me. I cried. There will never be another Kurdt. No one can fill those shoes. I pray that his soul is at peace now.

SYHamilton 04.12.2010 10:04 AM

Does anybody know where I can get a copy of the documentary, 1991 The Year Punk Broke? Apparently, it was never issued on DVD. I like the clips I've seen from it, like the one where Kim Gordon is applying lipstick on Kurt Cobain and Dave Grohl.

DeadDiscoDildo 04.12.2010 10:25 PM

You guys are pretty fucking Stupid. No offense. Just tough love.

Kurt Cobain was just being himself.

Every great artist has just been themself.

Of course there will never be another anyone, we are all so completely individual.

Now the medias take on who "KURT COBAIN" was....there already has been another one. a great savior of rock n roll....comes around every 5 years or so....

just create. channel every thing that's ever influenced you, negative or positivley....

DeadDiscoDildo 04.12.2010 10:25 PM

God that reply was such contrived hippie bullshit but you know what I mean.

atsonicpark 04.12.2010 10:41 PM

I like Kurt. He was kind of a selfish person, and obviously insane, but I appreciate how sloppy and abrasive and interesting his guitar playing was, and he had a real knack for creative, strange melodies. To think that Nirvana ever existed in a mainstream context is pretty insane, especially given today's landscapes -- where are today's Nirvanas?

I think my biggest problem I had with Kurt was all the biographies I read on him when I was 14, talking about him spitting in fan's faces, raping turtles with pencils, shit like that. But, really, I'm able now to listen to music without associating the person with the music they create, so I gotta give him a nod, especially MUDDY BANKS, what an album..

Dead-Air 04.12.2010 10:42 PM

Has it only been 16 years? A death that's old enough to drive now.

atsonicpark 04.12.2010 10:56 PM

Drive shotgun?

EVOLghost 04.12.2010 10:56 PM

All the flowers sing in D minor.

EVOLghost 04.12.2010 11:17 PM

lol He's received so much rep from everyone he can no longer receive any rep.

atsonicpark 04.12.2010 11:21 PM

Haha, that's true. Yet Rob is still beating me, somehow..

DeadDiscoDildo 04.13.2010 01:36 AM

it's those ASS AND TITTIES man.

Todays nirvanas arent understood, because Nirvana wasnt understood, and even if they are out there "my band" they just get labelled "indie"...

wtf is indie? independant? how can rock n roll be independant from anything when its a GENRE now...lol.

im serious tho, Im not even being cocky, my goal is melody plus chaos plus INTEGRITY...an ingrediant ppl forget about...

I've never heard of this... you say Kim Gordon is in it? Hey guys, can anyone shed some light on what this documentary might be?

Derek 04.13.2010 02:34 PM

It's a documentary with SY and Nirvana in the lead roles if I'm not mistaken plus some other note worthy bands at that time. I think you can maybe get a VHS tape of it at some trumped up $$$$$$

here's a pointer to watch it on your monitor
