Empath - Visitor (February 22)
|
My “looking forward to” picks are mostly boring and samey for me, but I’m looking forward to the new Spiritualized, the new Spoon, new Zen Mother …
I actually can’t think of a ton of scheduled 2022 releases right now. |
And I hope to god Fuck Buttons releases a new album, goddammit. And Nicolas Jaar/Against All Logic.
And I know it’s too early (he seems to be on an “every-5-years” schedule for studio albums), but I’d love a new DJ Koze record. |
Alison Cotton - The Portrait You Painted Of Me (date TBA)
|
Mary Halvorson - Amaryllis/Belladonna (May)
|
Loop - Sonancy (11.3)!
|
Tropical Fuck Storm - Goody Goody Gumdrops: A Tropical Fuck Storm Film (soundtrack)

Just a test to see if the forum is working AT ALL. I have tried to tell the non-music forum that I watched Power of the Dog like, for days. Anyway. Fuck.
EDIT: Yeah this one’s working, but I’m leaving the above because I’m very frustrated about making 10 failed attempts to say “I watched a movie and it was good” Hope there’s new Fuck Buttons in 2022 |

Yeah, I see your Dog Powa posts when I click on "Go Advanced". Listen. You have the power to fix shit up. Kind of. Just select one of your previous posts on that thread (ideally one you're not terribly attached to) and delete the motherfucker. The thread should rise again like the phoenix bird. As for The Power Of The Dog, I haven't seen it, but I've seen Heart Of A Dog - it's monumental, and so is the soundtrack. |

Actually, if you don't want that post to go the way of the dodo, before deleting it use the _tunic_ method: select it (text, pics, the whole thing), copy it, paste it and post it ("I had to delete this one to get the thread running again: {quote}the stuff you're gonna delete{/quote}"), then delete it, then keep on keepin' on. |

How Is It That This Had Not Shown Up On My Radar?! Holy crap! This must be the album Tamara Lindeman said she considered a "companion piece" to Ignorance. Thank you Moshe! |

SONIC YOUTH - "new LP" (I'm assuming it's a live one) on Three Lobed Recordings "early in 2022"
|
Paste magazine made its own list. It doesn't add anything for me, though - Spiritualized, Spoon, and Empath are there, but the other 37 (!) picks leave me cold.

Kurt Vile - (watch my moves) (15.4)
The Weather Station - How Is It That I Should Look At The Stars (25.3) |

New Spiritualized
New Blanck Mass (soundtrack to that Unibomber movie) Some other stuff |
thanks for 2022 updates.
I will keep an eye on this thread. |

I'm pretty excited about the upcoming Wet Leg debut LP
|
The new Placebo album somehow doesn't suck as much as I thought it would (although, being a fangirl, I'm biased). The lyrics are awful as expected, but most of the instrumentals are good; they're at their best leaning into moodier and more atmospheric stuff - good opener, good few closing tracks, a few nice enough ones in the middle weighed down by some real stinkers.

That single is badASS |
The new Spiritualized album is of course very good.
As are the new albums by Destroyer, Jenny Hval, Aldous Harding, Pusha T, Vince Staples, Huerco S, Loop, Billy Woods, Guerilla Toss, Axel Bowman, and others. I still haven’t really found an “oh my god, this is breathtakingly good” album for 2022 yet though. I’m a bit behind the times I think. |
