And yeah to everything louder mentioned, except I still can't quite get into the Cloud Nothings album. Half of it sounds great, the other is unlistenable.

First track is really great though!

dude this is actually true. the first and the last tracks are incredible, inbetween there are some not-so-overwhelming stuff.

Attended release show for Astra's new album, The Black Chord (CD: Metal Blade, LP: Rise Above). Awesome mostly instrumental heavy shredding psychedelic/neo-prog with mellotron, multiple synths, double neck guitars, liquid light show, green fog. Nods to Yes, Floyd, probably others I don't know, while remaining their own. Dead Meadow played too. Album and show are/were awesome. I really need to buy a good portable digital recorder.

Unsane's new album Wreck is pretty decent. Released on Jello Biafra's alternative tentacles it's nothing that original but still a decent record. It is a very uncompromising 40 minutes but enjoyable none the less.
