Good news: Pot legalization is on the November ballot in Ohio
Bad news: It'll go down in flames |
Good news: the flawed, oligopoly-establishing Ohio pot issue will go down in flames
Better news: a better proposal will be on a future ballot in the state. |

i like this version better |
I like the most practical approach employed in California. Deprioritization over decriminalization or legalization. Since "conservatives" keep resisting legalization and its already about as decriminalized as its going to get, local and regional courts and law enforcement agencies as official policy issue declarations of "Deprioritizing" enforcement of current cannabis laws. Its essentially a shoulder shrug approach but it has effectively legalized cannabis possession here in Cali, the cops just give it back and say, "go get a weedcard dumbass."
However in principle i don't support people who aren't actually using cannabis medically to abuse the prop 215 cards, i find it in poor taste. |

dream: in a valley there is a giant rocket/spaceship that's about the height of me x10,000. commentators are explaining how it uses thermal cooling like computers do now. i cycle to the right of it but there are so many gravestones on the grass i cant cycle straight and hit one and fall off.
i end up in the corner of an asphalt pitch near were i grew up, and there are wire fences protecting the trees around it, but i peek through and see a hidden square of caravans and graffiti covered abandoned buildings with no doors or windows. also on the ground of the pitch which was always 100% clean when i grew up is litter and heroin needles. i find a gap and climb through, leaving my bike, and there are massive caravans, 4 times as big as regular caravans, but noone appears to be in them. i sneak around them and think this must be were the nasa people who worked on the rocket live. its early morning and noone is around. then i am looking at a garage which is just a garage door with a square box inside with nothing but cream painted walls on the inside, no window or doors. and about 15 immigrants are packed into it, and one of them says he has learnt to live off his own bodily fluids. |

When? In my experience, it takes at least a decade before an issue is reintroduced after failing. You're really going to vote NO in hopes that something better will come along? But yeah. I've heard whispers that organized crime is behind the ballot initiative. Still, I won't cry if it passes. I'll be able to grow a little and smoke a lot. Just won't be able to set up a massive farm. I'll take it. |
Quote:
I'm going to vote no because the ends don't justify the means in this instance. Funny, one of my co-workers, a person I'm sure you don't know (or maybe you do--know anyone who lives in Milford, Ohio?) also gave me the "at least 10 years" argument. There's nothing I know of to prevent an issue from making the ballot long before then. I therefore can only conclude that this a myth spread by the ResponsibleOhio--"Weed fans! Vote yes or it'll be another decade!" As for organized crime, it wouldn't surprise me. Hamilton County Prosecutor Joe Deters--who was pretty much run out of Columbus for reasons I'm sure you're aware of--is very much in favor of the issue, and the private law firm he works part time at represents ResponsibleOhio. There's no bigger crook in the state than Deters. |
It's funny: I don't actually like Kasich. It's just that among the GOP contenders, I find him the most palatable.
And I don't actually like the way ResponsibleOhio formed the issue. It's just that compared to the drug laws we now have, I find it slightly more palatable. I think we disagree a lot because you want the "good" while I'm okay with the "acceptable." Not saying one of us is more right than the other. Just the way we look at things, I think. |

Depends on how you define "acceptable", which I don't find the ballot issue to be at all. But we seems to have a lot of the same general beliefs and outlook on things--just disagree at times on how to proceed. |
got my grade for my BA thesis yesterday and the acceptance letter for my further studies the day before. so happy!

i can deal with rude, stupid is fine, but rude and stupid makes a cranky schizo

you're in florida! plus, bureaucracies. just keep punching yo. maybe you'll have to charm the fools but it's the same thing. one secret my old shrink told me to get things out of bureucracies is to make them snap out of program with the following jedi mind-trick: "i need help" or "could you please help me?" which gives them a mighty power to do what you need them to do for you and feel great about it. best leg breaks. |
oh, i meant customers at work, haha, but still. i've been overly nice to the insurance folks on the phone and it's gotten me alright, just wish i could talk them into better coverage.

oh! i thought today was your day off lol |
i had to come in for like, an hour because a girl was late and the other chick up front is brand new and didn't really know what to do. so i just had to hold the fort for a little bit. not cool, but hey, an extra hour on my check, i guess.
oh, maybe this is for the drinking thread, but i made a simple syrup with some lemon zest and had it with gin just now, and it was delicious. the rest of the syrup is going on a cake my roommate is baking right now. my other roommate is super into cocktails and cooking and i've been learning quite a bit the past few weeks. next is making bitters. |
so my financial aid didn't cover the university i was going to and i found out literally the day before move-in day, and now i'm scrambling to get shit figured out to go to another college a week before classes start. fuck this
|
NOOOOO. FUCK THAT. FUCK AID. FUCK MONEY. fingers crossed you find somewhere, because you will. brooo. I wish I could help.
|
i feel so useless and shitty.
|
you're neither.
|
dammit, crayons, that's such terrible news, i mean, what timing to hear about it-- fuck!!!
don't know what to say really, except, i've survived disasters and i trust that you will too. maybe roll with the punches-- take your student money and buy a van and start your band and get to touring a la cat power. ha! yes? i don't know... damn... as bill clinton would say-- i feel your pain. stay strong. |
Just came home from shooting footage for a music video I'm currently producing for an acquaintance of mine. Got to shoot roughly 75% of the scenes that will make it into the final product. There'll be a few new additions in the days to come. This is the first time someone requested me to do a music video for them, I'm sort of psyched.

Fortunately she just got a new waitressing job at a nice restaurant...but still...the worst part though is that the classes she needs aren't offered for the spring semester...:/

GAINESVILLE |
Got in a stupid fender bender yesterday after what was initially a PERFECT start to a new academic year at University ... im working as a sub this year so i was already kinda bummed out, just got to laugh this one off, bite my insurance rate hike bullet and drive my car with an ugly ass putaso for a while..
I'm embarrassed more than anything. As to those who lost their college funding, i am sooooo sincerely sorry, i had to wait three years to make it back into gradschool while i saved all my pennies, all i can say is God knows where He needs y'all, and whether we know or even like it, God always knows what He is doimg. Y'all have my prayers and please keep me in yours if that is your thing |

LA Long Beach are WAY to high on that list. Sure on any given night there might quite literally be over 4000 concerts going on but for local or small bands its almost impossible to make any $ or even get much support. The sad reality of the LA scene is its dead, people don't go to check out new or local bands, only established bands.

orlando!
so i'm taking the clep exam i need for my math credit, and my mom is paying for the science credit... taking them probably next month and minus the money i owe, i'll finally actually have my stupid associates. |
AA ain't a stupid degree, can get a way better job with it than without, especially for when in school pursuing higher degree path
