This was half interesting and half dull as fuck.

The Revenant. For something with such violence, it was a really beautiful movie

Rob Instigator 06.20.2016 04:25 PM

Revenant is very cool.

Severian 06.21.2016 08:45 AM

Still haven't seen Revenant. Or — God help me — Spotlight. Need to make time for those.

ilduclo 06.21.2016 04:15 PM

I really liked Spotlight quite a bit, well acted and a terrific story. But it is nowhere near the artistry of Revenant, IMO

ORson Wells The Stranger.

I'm going to look forward to this one

I watched The Big Short and thought it was goddamn brilliant. Not in a traditional way, but still brilliant. The fact that Revenant and Spotlight beat that film for Best Actor and Best Picture, respectively, makes nervous. Like a mistake must have been made. Because if that film was Academy scraps for 2015's acting and ensemble awards, I am almost afraid to see what won. Like, if they don't absolutely blow me away, I'm going to be pissed off about the low-end mortgage crisis all over again. Hah.

I think me last movi, aye movi was Werner Herzogs vampire dracula. Visual orgasm ensued. Nuff...said...mush

Rob Instigator 06.24.2016 01:08 PM

Herzog's Nosferatu is aweesome!!!

ilduclo 06.24.2016 01:18 PM

yeah, Big Short was pretty good, even made me halfways like Steve Carell. I still think the overall Revenant was way better, the cinematography on that was fantastic!

pepper_green 07.04.2016 11:25 PM

The Hunger.

watched this at some holiday inn on TMC. loved the 80's atmosphere and david bowie.

Severian 07.04.2016 11:52 PM

Green Room last night.
Good. Very good. But not quite deserving of all the hype. Nice premise, well thought out, but not brilliant by any stretch of the imagination.

Tonight we finally watched EX MACHINA, and that was absolutely fucking stunning. Eerie as all hell. Excellent soundtrack too.

The first Purge or that new one that just hit theatres?

I'm kinda interested in watching these films. The premise is interesting (though it seems to be kind of a re-branded riff on The Running Man, Hunger Games, and the like).

I just read the Revenant, and enjoyed it well enough, but the idea of watching all that shit unfold on screen over 2+ uninterrupted hours sounds... daunting.

tw2113 07.05.2016 02:45 PM

The first one from a few years ago. Definitely didn't get much of a Hunger Games/Running Man vibe from it. Only real close detail to that is that they legalize a bunch of normally illegal actions for 12 hours at a time.

I tried to watch Dune for the first time and holy mega bore! think I made it 15 or minutes so while trying not to fall asleep but when that cube shield fighting began with MacLachlan and the dude from Star Trek, I said "ok, that's it!!! fuck this crap!!!". I had no clue what was going on leading up to that event anyway so it wasn't like I was disappointed. just annoyed and lethargically flabbergasted at how dull this movie was.

damn! who are the survivors that made it through this shit, possibly bad edited movie? and I love David Lynch movies to death but holy fuck cow tits. snore. drool on pillow. night night.

there's a reason why I never saw this film until now. bore boogaloo.

I read Dune several times before watching it. It is a deeply flawed movie, especially to those not familiar with the material, but I love it. It is overblown and self-important but I dig it.

Holy shit, I never realized David Lynch directed this film! What the fuck?

Book good, movie bad. Makes more sense now. What an odd pairing. David Lynch and Frank Herbert? Ick. Course I haven't seen it since I was a kid, so maybe I'm forgetting or missing out on some real awesomeness. Doubtful.
