At a church fete in Chester today, I paid 50p for an old vinyl thing called 'What Passing Bell'. It's a collection of First World War poetry and prose read by several well-known figures, from 1964 (50th anniversary of the outbreak). The usual stuff (Sassoon, Haig, Owen etc), but what actually drew my attention was the name of one of the speakers; Michael Hordern was the voice of the original TV series of PAddington Bear! Splendid.
I also got a nice 10" LP of Sibelius' Violin Concerto in D Minor (year not stated), by David Oistrakh and the Stockholm Festival Orchestra. |
On my last day at work, all vinyl:
Robbie Basho - The Grail And The Lotus, Takoma 1966 Jack Goldstein - Planets 6x10" box set on Neutral Carla Bley/Paul Haines - Escalator Over The Hill 3xLP box set M. Nageswara Rao - The Voice Of Tanam: Ghana Raga Panchakam (Vina solos on Nonesuch) I don't think I'll be buying anything for a while... |

Nope. Fucking overhyped shite they are. Deloused had a few decent tracks but Frances was absolutely terrible. I just bought 6 new cdrs from KK Rampage & pre-ordered the new Xiu Xiu single. |

Yeah, they are really great, and they have a really fruitfull back-catalog. The Ep collection is really fine, but I'll advice you to get If You're Feeling Sinster, which I see as album by B&S, but Tigermilk comes very close. |
I went on a bit of a music bender the other day and picked up these:
Serena Maneesh (on vinyl) 2 by Royal Trux (the bone cover s/t & Cats and Dogs) Th' Faith Healers - Peel Sessions De La Soul - Three Feet High (yes, even though I was around in 89, it took me this long to pick it up. I'm a slacker.) Couple weeks ago I picked up Nico's Marble Index (vinyl). |
Neutral Milk Hotel - Everything Is 7"
Xiu Xiu - Knife Play LP(I only had it on cd before) Xiu Xiu - Fag Patrol 7" |
Blank Unstaring Heirs of Doom- jana hunter

John Coltrane Quartet - Ballads, on vinyl. I don't even have a record player, but I couldn't pass it up.
|
"Out there a minute" - Sun Ra
It's a blast first compilation of Sun Ra's rare tracks from the early 60s. |
