Andromeda Mega Express Orchestra's Take Off! is my new favourite album of the year. By far. VERY VERY FAR.

atsonicpark 05.23.2009 07:42 PM

^^^ Odd, I just d/led that today from the By Chance Upon Waking blog, because they said it was similiar to Stereolab. Haven't listened yet though.

Derek 05.24.2009 05:02 PM

Mark McGuire's Tidings II is absolutely fantastic.

atsonicpark 05.24.2009 05:05 PM

Yes.

Derek 05.24.2009 05:06 PM

It makes me want to write some UUUUUU stuff... it's like the sound that I really want to achieve.

atsonicpark 05.24.2009 05:07 PM

Buy some more delay pedals and you'll be good. Haha.

atsonicpark 05.26.2009 08:43 AM

I have a new favorite album of the year.

master musicians of bukkake - totem one

Here's a link to sample the goods: http://www.mediafire.com/?zyum3nazzza

Here's a link to their first album: http://www.mediafire.com/?hwd4jjvfhuc

(out of print, so it's a guiltfree download)

People involved in the band: Charles Gocher (on first album), Alan Bishop, Eyvind Kang, John Schuller, Randall Dunn, Brad Mowen, Don McGreevy, James Davis, Eryn Young, Shahzad Ismaily, Hammy, Branden Harper, Evan Schiller, Paul Moore, Olli Klomp, Javier Gallegos, Andrew McInnis, Benjamin Kennedy, and Luke LaPlante.

batreleaser 05.27.2009 02:35 PM

that album is crazy, almost too crazy to call it my "favorite" but interesting as fuck for sure.

batreleaser 05.27.2009 02:37 PM

anyways, i said this a few pages ago, wolf eyes new lp on hospital is the best and most consistent thing theyve ever done, which makes sense considering how amazing those guys have gotten.

batreleaser 05.27.2009 02:38 PM

blank dogs "in the red" is more of the same from him, but thats rad anyways.

batreleaser 05.27.2009 02:56 PM

oh and i just listened to the new borbetomagus "snuff jazz" as well, very rad, total noise utopia shit.

finally caved in and got the wiese/yeh album "cincinatti" at no fun, also aa helluva lot better than i expected with its junk noise improv and fucked up atmospherics and awesome percussion sounds. they actually sound amazing together with yeh's scraping psychedelic droning noise sound and wiese's hyper almost grind-esque cut up collage noise thing.

zola jesus finally won me over with "new amsterdam", fucking heavy, alot heavier than i woulda thought.

"balf quarry" is just sounding better and better, i always wanted them to do a hardcore song like they did on the third track.

there have also been some amazing releases by both country teasers and the rebel. read about them all by a far better writer than i steve kobak here;
http://satanrulez.blogspot.com/ though i want to make special mention of the "W.O.A.R." release on Holy Mountain, it is shibby.

cant forget wooden shjips "dos", the band gets better and better.

while im talking about holy mountain ill mention thie release of onna's "S/T" record from 1983. Japanese sci fi punk that makes Chrome sound more Thin Lizzy than Ralph records.

Timmy's Organism is a solo project of the dude from Human Eye, he just put out a double 7" on Sacred Bones. If you love the noisy sci fi punk of Chrome, Debris, and of course Human Eye youll dig this, but keep in mind it goes a little more far off the beaten path.

The album I havn't heard but am most exicted about right now is the new Liquoball album. Liquorball is the scuzziest and punkest psych band out there right now, and to assert this theory the one and only STEVE MACKAY is playing on the record, yknow, the dude who played on some record called FUN HOUSE.

I'd say it's like Art Ensemble of Chicago + Steve Reich + Stereolab + 60s easy listening, with top-notch composition and lotsa fun.

batreleaser 05.30.2009 11:32 AM

khanate 'clean hands go foul' is fucking heavy as fuck and wicked awesome.

SYRFox 06.07.2009 11:38 AM

has anyone listened to expo '70 - awakening ? the first track off it is incredibly good. the second side is good too but the first one is really mindblowing

batreleaser 06.07.2009 12:15 PM

the druid perfume s/t is addictive as hell, honest to god beefheartian punk that rips.

atsonicpark 06.07.2009 04:01 PM

yeah it rules. 2008 though.

HaydenAsche 06.07.2009 04:05 PM

I don't think I've listened to anything new this year really.

Savage Clone 06.07.2009 04:27 PM

Hayden, you should get the new Gay Beast album on Skin Graft.
You will love it. At least I think you will.

HaydenAsche 06.07.2009 04:37 PM

You had me at Skin Graft. I'll check it out.

Thank you, dear.
