Two of my favourite bands. Young people I know don't like The Smiths, and other young people that claim to like the Ramones only wear Ramones t-shirts to look cool, and don't actually know the music.

Well, just because I think they're shit doesn't mean they are shit :)

Also, I assumed we stopped talking about the likes of "young people" when people started posting about bands like Genesis.

I don't get a lot of indie pop.

Let this be the vague generalization that it is.

There are two things that I'm thinking here.

Firstly, the whole concept of this thread is kinda stupid. None of us were blessed with perfect taste from day one - I used to think The Offspring were a good band before I discovered other, better bands.
And that's my point: the shit-but-popular stuff that you listen to when you're fourteen and just discovering music is a gateway to the good-but-less-popular stuff.
Not that a lot of it's shit anyway - MCR still holds up in my book.

Secondly, I'm really tempted to start shooting my mouth about bands I don't listen to, despite the knowledge that that would be hypocritical...okay, fuck it. Twenty One Pilots should not be listened to.
