ohhh slavo i like the shaddow on the grass one!

_slavo_ 04.12.2010 11:52 AM

if you notice the long 7-floor apartment building on the left of the grass photo, that's the place where I spent my childhood in and lived with my parents
socialist architecture at its best.

Mate in the top photo gave me some nice German film to shoot, very fine grain. This is from the first roll.

phoenix 04.13.2010 06:19 AM

is that the chinese gardens in sydney?

terminal pharmacy 04.13.2010 07:22 AM

no it is not, it is a small japanese garden around the corner from my house.

chicka 04.13.2010 07:37 AM

see learn something new everyday. It should be obvious but I never thought about or realized that the type of film you used in your camera could make a difference in the resulting photo. :o:confused:

I need to stop guessing at your pics, but they always look so familiar!

A Canon 5D Mark II has become the first video-capable DSLR to film a whole episode of a US primetime series. Greg Yaitanes, director of FOX broadcasting company's medical drama series 'House', used the camera, a selection of Canon's prime lenses and, the 24-70mm and 70-200mm lenses to shoot its season finale. Speaking via Twitter, he said that this was to achieve a shallow depth of field and a 'richer look'. He also said he 'feels it’s the future'.

I'm not too happy with these.
Concert photography is a bitch (any advice is appreciated).
All from last night, shot without using a flash unit (I always find that to be kind of annoying).

Aidan Baker and Leah Buckareff (Nadja)

Joe Preston (Thrones)

A Thousand Threads 04.22.2010 10:08 AM

Bruno Dorella and Stefania Pedretti(Ovo)

The new Ovo set is great, pitty they were opener and only played for half an hour.
Nadja was great, too.
Thrones' intro for this tour is brutal but after that it gets boring pretty fast.

Anngella 04.22.2010 10:38 AM

1000 Threadz - I don't know what kind of camera you have, but if you have some sort of SLR that lets you control ISO/shutter speed etc. settings then I suggest you do a bunch of "test shots" before the band goes on stage to see what kind of settings you need for the lighting situation.

That said, the pictures you have look very nice. Well done!

terminal pharmacy 04.23.2010 01:32 AM

a thousand threads, what metering are you using? evaluative/partial/spot or centre weighted average? for that sort of situation I would use spot metering and meter for the midtones on the persons face. a couple of those shots it looks like you really nailed them, but the others looks like you metering picked different places for the reading so I'm assuming you used evaluative. also depends on what effect you are trying to achieve, if you want a good strong silohuette then meter for the highlights in the environment. also open your aperture up. what camera/lenses are you using?

this one of yours is really great

this one of mine i used spot metering and metered on her nose, it took awhile to get the metering and the shot as she was spinning around quite fast. patience is the biggest virtue but it is also very difficult to take lots of time if someone is paying you for the shots. i was really quite lucky with this shot too as i was trying to mix the band that was playing as well for an audience of 1100 people... fun times. from memory this was iso3200 at about 125th of a sec.

nicfit 04.24.2010 01:09 PM

I hardly listen to them nowadays (used to love "waters" back in the days...heck 1993!!), but live they put up a really nice show! And they're really nice people too.
