Poor Kid Cudi, man.
The guy's got genuine mental health issues (bipolar personality disorder, generalized anxiety & major depressive disorder) and he's in the goddamn hospital for it.

Now, why the hell his psychiatrists are letting a potentially suicidal patient who checked in due to the pressures of celebrity read hate tweets in fucking rehab is beyond me, but that's a really low ass blow even for Drake.

Isn't this that the dude who played sax on Blackstar?

Great album but I haven't listened to it since the first couple months of the year. Must revisit.

Severian 10.28.2016 05:05 PM

The best thing acid I could do is not respond to Drake.

Drake was supposed to be that sensitive kid. The one with the big heart. But he's been acting like a bully ever since NWTS. More so all the time.

Really, he's not the sensitive guy who loves too hard and has to talk himself up so he's not destroyed by rejection. He's the creeper lagoon motherfucker who checks girls' phones and gets a little sociopathic when things don't go his way. Now he's acting like any kid who wins one fight (the beef with Meek) and he's looking for other fights he knows he can win, just so--- what? So people will never say things about him?

God I fucking hate Drake you guys.

Well I don't know bro. Only reason it "clicked" for me was because I just read about this "Lazarus" soundtrack to a Michael C. Hall-starring musical full of Bowie songs, and sax homeboy was mentioned.

noisereductions 10.28.2016 10:43 PM

Just giving you a hard time dood. But yeah prob worth checking it out.

louder 10.29.2016 04:00 AM

I'll check it out! Blackstar is one of my favorite Bowie albums, period.

Bob Dylan Finally Acknowledges Nobel Prize, “Absolutely” Wants to Attend Ceremony
http://pitchfork.com/news/69397-bob-...tend-ceremony/

Haha.

Severian 10.30.2016 06:02 PM

Let's not give any more attention to this Drake/Cudi/Pusha (maybe) Kanye nonsense if we can help it. I feel like it's just feeding a beast at this point, especially since Drake leaked the songwriting credits to "Two Birds One Stone" and made it look as though Kanye was a more primary lyricist on the track than Drake himself. Feels like a calculated move to me. I highly doubt Kanye would throw shade at the president of his label and one of his most staunch friends and suppprters. But that's the impression Drake has given.

Like.. "look Kanye's on my side"

Uuuugggghhh.

And why the fuck is Lupe Fiasco jumping into this? Boy needs to be part of a trending story is all. Wow I lost a lot of respect for Lupe when I read that. Nobody deserves to be physically assaulted, you taint. Why don't you go work on finishing up those "final" albums so we can decide once and for all if you've been a failure or a success. I can't quite tell at this point.

...

Lol. I said let's not talk about it then I talked about it. I'm so crazy. Don't be like me though.

Severian 10.30.2016 10:56 PM

Hey guess what I just bought?

Didn't even have to wait until midnight. I hadn't listened yet, but damn man... IT'S HERE!!!

Yeah man.

I actually don't give a single solitary fuck about Halloween. I'm a bit horrified by how many of my friends and co-workers are going out of their way to "dress up" this year. It's like... Jesus Christ, you're 35!

But whatever. A$AP Mob album came out so I can hardly complain.

noisereductions 10.31.2016 11:59 AM

oh. Yeah. We're those people. I'll be Clark Kent and my wife will be Poison Ivy handing out candy tonight.

But yeah - I can't believe this album is a thing that exists for real now.

pepper_green 10.31.2016 05:46 PM

Halloween is awesome. for all ages. it's my favorite holiday besides thanksgiving. Christmas is a joke. you ever spent Christmas alone? its sucks. not suicidal suck but, pretty sucky.

I make my daughter this time of year watch horror movies with me because I think kids should be scared. life is scary! it's better than being sheltered and thinking you can get free shit just by dressing up. getting a head start over the PC takeover. since then she's seen the stabbing in Psycho and an alien pop out of someone's chest. things I was exposed to at her age. my parents had a laissez-faire attitude when it came to horror movies. I clearly remember my father arguing with my mom on whether or not I should watch Predator with them at 7. my daddy won.

anyway, it's not so Halloween here. another fall time with 70 degree weather. it used to get foggy and cold. never know what you'll get living here.

Severian 10.31.2016 05:55 PM

My girlfriend was up at 4:30 getting ready for some work Halloweeen thing. Making an unholy Fucking mess. I think I actually kind of hate Halloween.

Listened to the first half of Cozy Tapes. Some really good songs, for sure. Also, some pretty basic trap-beat type songs. Surprisingly simple, some of it. But the good moments are really fucking good! Takes me back to the days of Wu-Tang Forever (Wu-Tang is obviously the Mob's dominant aesthetic influence, which is cool).

pepper_green 10.31.2016 06:10 PM

leap year Halloween this year. that tricky Feb 29th. the calendar winds up, goes back, stands still, then goes forward making up by dividing the fractions. always unstoppable time itself. extra day plus one. the stars commands us to calculate to survive. otherwise they would have never gave you the measurements and the fractions to grow crops. studying nonlinear time is very important to us. its in yr right to celebrate. cut in stone. you'll starve if ignored. mother nature doesn't follow your rules. you follow hers. everything that's synthetic that you put in yr brain will fail.

Severian 11.01.2016 10:43 AM

NR - feelings on Cozy Tapes?

noisereductions 11.01.2016 12:13 PM

Yes! And i was going to say it has a Wu vibe as well.

this is shaping up to be fucking epic. I'm nervous to even think about it too much before it actually drops.

noisereductions 11.02.2016 03:11 PM

srsly this year has been a whirlwind of quality releases in my book. I'm still catching up. Tribe is huge huge huge news for next week. Then the week after is a new Weeknd album. Obviously not as big a deal - cuz nothing really is haha - but I do love The Weeknd and def liking the new single.

But man, this is one of those years where trimming down a Top 10 will be tough for me... Paak, Kanye, A$AP Mob, Ariana, Aesop Rock, Chance, Deftones, Heliocentrics, Miles, Sonic Youth, Vince, Weezer, Suicide Squad sndtrk... this prob only 1/2 of the albums I've kept in rotation.

pepper_green 11.02.2016 04:41 PM

at least the Tribe doesn't make methhead music for crackheads.

Chance is like "break me off a piece of the kit kat bar" with a bear suit. fuck that idiot too.

Yeah. Makes me realize how little I actually cared about that NWA "reunion" tour with Eminem... or was it Kendrick? Even with Kendrick, and even if it had happened, it sounds about as exciting as bran cereal next to a new ATCQ album.

I wrote a longer post about this earlier but apparently I lost it or something.

I am very much not giving a fuck about Weeknd anymore. At all. He's made some really weird career choices and alienated almost all of his original fans. He used to sound like a pervy neo-soul Portishead. Now he sounds like the lippiest pop ever popped, or a half assed imitation thereof. Kinda gross really. He got mega-popular with a sound that was basically the antithesis of what made him interesting in the first place.

I'm out, Weeknd. Have fun turning into an anime cartoon.

noisereductions 11.02.2016 09:18 PM

Asap Mob album is pretty great. Dark shit and Onyx cameo... really happy about.

Still wish we get Lord w those 3 singles too though

Yeah I like it. Still, some of those trap joints at just SO beneath the A$APs, especially production wise. But the the highlights shine, so it's all worth it.

The new album could go either way. But he said it's just a bunch of songs with no storyline or concept and teamed up with Max Martin again so I guess he's going full pop star. He seems to want to brand himself to make sure he stays.

Still, as a longtime fan I think I will always have a soft spot for The Weeknd..

Open Apple Music or Spotify (you have one or the other).
Search for it if it's not just sitting there in the new releases section.
Click "play."
Should take about 10 seconds.

Chance is great. I haven't seen the KitKat ad, but it doesn't even matter. When your music is that good, and continues to be that good, you can do the occasional stupid ass corny thing (like designing shoes or earth-tone apocalypse clothing) without it making a dent in your reputation.

I listened to "Chain Smoker" last night. If you can't get with that shit there's something wrong with you.

I know, but for some reason now I'm listening to various selected Justin Bieber singles out of everything. Heh.

You know, people used to call Drake "that sweet mothafucka" but I think that term actually appeals to Chance now. Drake isn't sweet at all, he's more of a bitchmade, narcissistic, self obsorbed prick.. but Chance is actually the sweetest guy I've seen in hip hop since.. I don't know, Common?

Acid Rap still had some degree of badassery to it. But Coloring Book is some family friendly hip hop shit. Not that I'm complaining..

Rob Instigator 11.03.2016 12:50 PM

Rae Sremurd - Black Beatles is my fave jam at the moment. I turn that shit up irritatingly loud in my car on the way home from work when I'm ridin' durty.... Either the Sremmurd or Mike Will have beenn sampling a lot of early Cure/Joy Division/Bauhaus type sounds... I dig.

Common's new album is very very good. Consistent the whole way through, definitely better than his last one.

Good to hear. I forgot this even existed. I will check it out based on your rec.

The true test will be whether or not you still feel this way in a few months. That's not a dig at you either. It's just how things are. Tons of good hip-hop albums drop, but every year there are fewer that I care about 6 months later.

Severian 11.03.2016 09:27 PM

There's a new CZARFACE out tomorrow too, if anyone still cares.

Fair enough.

By the way, Tinashe and Alicia Keys just put out solid projects as well.
