I think Zaireeka is the best Flaming Lips album. It's good to just start it and let it go out of sync though. And it's best when your players are in different but connected rooms so the sound covers a larger area. Some of their best songs as well I think.

Are you working today Porky? If not, shouldn't you be going for a Bank Holiday walk in the park or something?

porkmarras 08.28.2006 05:29 AM

Nope,i'm not working today pookie.I got up about 1/2 hour ago.I'm being lazy because it's been a while that i spent a long weekend in.I'm loving just going through my records, working on my music and generally doing geeky stuff.I've also done my back in while moving house so.....

Sounds nice to me, apart from the bit about the back. You have my sympathy - back pain is the worst.

And the parks will be packed anyway. The train this morning was full of families going up to London.

And I'm listening to this:

porkmarras 08.28.2006 05:59 AM

I'm listening to Ladytron's 'Seventeen' wich i dedicate to Saturnine.haha

porkmarras 08.28.2006 06:00 AM

What are you and the family up to today, pookie?

Pookie 08.28.2006 06:10 AM

My two girls are, depending on the weather, probably going to the park and then the cinema later.

The new DJ Shadow album...I believe its called ''The Outsider''...
this one is a lot different than his other stuff, rapping on basically every track and seems like the samples that Shadow is famous for were not brought to the studio when he recorded it. Definetly has some decent songs on it though.

I'm actually listening to Silver Apples, of all things..

porkmarras 08.28.2006 07:40 AM

Wich one? It's been a while since i lent them an ear.

whorefrost 08.28.2006 07:43 AM

it's a CD of the s/t and Contact. I don't listen to it very much at all but now and again the urge to listen to it pops into my head quite suddenly.

porkmarras 08.28.2006 07:46 AM

I remember them getting a mini revival for themselves at the time bands like add n to x were more popular.

whorefrost 08.28.2006 07:56 AM

I was buying a Astral Weeks off ebay a coupla years ago and one of the other items the seller had was this Silver Apples CD. I'd never heard of them, but upon checking out the description and researching them on allmusic.com i decided to bid on it as well. outside of that i've never really heard of them. oh, actually i once read a liars interview where they were cited as an influence. and also, i saw some late night C4 music documentary about some band (Teenage Fanclub?).. one of the members was showing off his record collection and he had the Silver Apples s/t.

Pookie remind me of that record's label. It's german, right?

Pookie 08.28.2006 09:11 AM

Bip-Hop is the label. I don't know much about it, for some reason I always thought it was French. This is the only thing I have but it's almost all great stuff.

Visceral sounding enough for it to classify as good bonkers.
