"Y'know that women never really faint, and that villains always blink their eyes, woo! And that, y'know, children are the only ones who blush! And that life is just to die! And everyone who ever had a heart, they wouldn't turn around and break it! And anyone who ever played a part, oh wouldn't turn around and hate it!"

I know it's a fucking cliche, but damn it all, Rock & Roll is pretty much the best candidate for my personal theme tune...

automatic bzooty 11.28.2009 03:40 PM

It really is. The thing about Loaded as an album is that is has like 4 or 5 absolutely perfect recording, like best ever level (Sweet Jane, Rock and Roll, I Found A Reason and Oh Sweet Nothin'! + sometimes New Age, if it catches me right), and the rest of it is a massive letdown I find. Stuff like Lonesome Cowboy Bill is just not on the same level at all.

Which is why it's sadly my least favourite VU album, despite it having some of their finest moments.

exactly!

lonesome cowboy bill is fairly awful (imo) and the rest is so... filler-y. but those songs you listed are some of their best. anyone's best really.

Sure, Birdman is a crappy rapper, but he can afford awesome beats and good guests, making a mildly enjoyable album.
