A bunch of different producers helped him out similar to his past few releases, consisting of the Wu-Elements producers, there's a full list of production credits up on the wikipedia for the album. The two RZA tracks on the album are probably the best RZA production I've heard since Supreme Clientele, can't wait to get this.

noisereductions 08.20.2008 07:25 AM

stu666 08.21.2008 11:28 AM

just got these sunburned cds today

gmku 08.21.2008 02:21 PM

I almost bought some Bowie Lps today and then went, Meh.

What's wrong with me. No Lp purchases in about 3 or 4 months now.

Rob Instigator 08.21.2008 02:27 PM

I saw you had posted and thought, "gmku is back at the record bins again!"

but no. it was not to be.

gmku 08.21.2008 02:31 PM

I've been back in the record bins every couple of weeks at least. I just haven't bought shit. Nada. Neechevo. Nothing.

I'm just not feeling it.

I can partly blame the record store. They get a lot of new vinyl in, but I don't think they get nearly the same kind of interesting older shit the store back in Iowa City used to get in. I see almost no Stones bootlegs, for example, or anything remotely rare or hard to find.

Rob Instigator 08.21.2008 02:36 PM

ahh, the curse of the "standard stock"

gmku 08.21.2008 02:39 PM

Yeah. I mean, it's a great store if you don't already have a lot of records. I think at the kind of saturation point I'm at it's harder and harder to find stuff I can feel much of a rush about. There are probably only a half-dozen things right now that I'd jump on and plunk down my coin for without hesitation.

Rob Instigator 08.21.2008 03:11 PM

any idea when the next Austin record convention will be?

viewtiful_alan 08.21.2008 05:49 PM

That looks pretty awesome.
Wish I could go.

Mississippi John Hurt- Complete 1928 Okeh Sessions
Nick Drake- Bryter Layter.. or something like that
They're both swell albums. That Nick Drake caught me completley off gaurd. Very, very different than Pink Moon

Viewtiful, what do you think of Carter I? it's not quite as immediate as II & III, but it's a grower with a ton of hidden jewels, me thinks.

acousticrock87 08.26.2008 04:35 PM

Jandek - Glasgow Sunday (DVD, technically, but fuck it's good.)

Jackie-O Motherfucker - Valley of Fire ($5 used)

The Earl Of Slander 08.28.2008 02:25 PM

While in Lisbon I made the wallet destroying mistake of "popping in" to the Trem Azul jazz record store, which turned out to be the greatest jazz store I've ever seen, and took about 4 hours of trip. Like seriously, crazy good.

I bought, all on CD:

Noah Howard - The Black Arc

Die Like A Dog Quartet - The Complete FMP Recordings (4 CDs!)

Peter Brotzmann & Han Bennink - Schwarzwaldfahrt (2 CDs)

Matthew Shipp Trio - The Multiplication Table

The Earl Of Slander 08.28.2008 02:25 PM

Various Artists (I.E. HOLY SHIT!!!!!!!!!) - Wildflowers: Loft Jazz New York 1976 (3 CDs)

And from the shop's own Clean Feed record label, the first being made up in front of me:

Adam Lane, Ken Vandermark, Magnus Broo & Paal Nilssen-Love - 4 Corners

Otomo Yoshihide's New Jazz Quintet Feat. Mats Gustafsson - ONJQ Live In Lisbon
