Bullshit. USA should be 3-2 up. That goal was legit.
Fan-fucking-tastic game! |

yes. robbed. fucking idiot ref. |
I think that I'd understand, and care more about, a "post in chinese" thread.
NI HAO, MOTHERFUCKERS. |
that was bullshit, we really won, but o well, fuckit
altidore is rightly pissed tho separated at birth: novakovic & t.s. eliot well, sorta |
jesus fuck.
that leaves USA with 2 points right? sux. what are the implications? |

depends on the algeria-england result later today. if england wins (as expected) they get 4 points like slovenia but who's ahead will depend on the goal difference. then we are forced to win over algeria & kick their asses by much-- at least 2 goals-- and then see what happens w/ england slovenia-- in other words, it's all still up in the air. |
I've watched the replays and the only potential foul(s) I saw were from Slovenia. A shocking decision.
The result only helps England but I do feel really sorry for the USA. |
im gonna get breakfast & go back to sleep. fucking headache. edu was super-pissed at the end. that thieving fucker ref.

i would've loved to see the us lose but the second half was something, that midfielder donovan made the difference. handanovic was a twat on the first goal play. |
the USA team should have come out to play the first half like they did the second. we would have won this for sure.
shit. I was really looking forward to the 3 points!!!!!!!!! so I should root for an algeria/UK draw huh? That would leave three teams with 2 points? is that right? |
no, Slovenia have already won their first game vs Algeria so they're on 4 points, so you'd want an England loss if you're supporting USA... a draw would be ok for you too, but then it's going to be about goal difference in the last game.
Just saw the goal, I don't see anything wrong with it. If anything, it's the Slovenian players making a foul. edit: Dempsey sould've been red-carded though. Elbowing in the first minute! |

USA were at their best when Bradley put them three at the back. So long as it's not at England's expense, I'd like the USA to qualify if only because they look like they'll put up a great fight regardless of who they play. At 2-0 down they might've crumbled but they're nothing if not determined. They're like a lot of the Asian sides, but stronger. And if England don't win their next two games, frankly they don't deserve to qualify. This second round is turning into a stonewall classic. Not a bad game so far, with no team showing any signs of genuine dominance. |
really surprised at the Germany result but it sure makes things more interesting. i know that Algeria are supposed to be an easy team to beat but i am actually kinda nervous about it.
|
proof that no team is easy to beat....except france! sorry bertrand!
|
..and yes the states were robbed blind! that ref should really wait until series 2 of fringe to come back on our tellys...he was awful.
|
That would have been the ONLY time ever in World Cup History that a team had come back being down 0-2 at the half to take a 3-2 win.
as it stands it is only one of three or four ever to come back to draw at 2-2 after being down 0-2 at half. fuck. |

jesus christ i am so mad, that ref was a out of line, there were SO MANY FUCKING FOULS that he didn't call and slovenia played DIRTY fucking charlie brown motherfuckers |
this is an idea i've had for a while, and i'm not sure why it isn't used in every sport. have the main ref wear an earpiece... link him to a judge who sits in the dark with endless replay cameras available to him. on any big play or any questionable play he simply tells the ref in play that the call was wrong. he doesn't even have to speak if a correct call was made. actually he doesn't even need an earpiece... just a signal. hell, red light / green light can tell the ref if he made the right call. it is absolutely stupid that everybody at home and the announcers and the fans can see an instant replay and the one person making the call, cannot. sorry but this has been brought up so many times in every sport and there is no logical answer for it.
how wouldn't this work? there is seemingly no downside to me. you even call the guy the "judge" and he can sit in heavily tinted windows so nobody can distract/disturb/affect him. we have raplays available within seconds... much less time than it takes for a player to celebrate a score. and if i'm not mistaken, an earpiece wouldn't slow down or hinder a ref at all. |
algeria is playing a nice game-- lacking power in the shots to the goal but playing better. still, we'll see if they have enough wind for the 2nd half. if they wanna score better do it now.
|
england is starting to wake up...
|
very contested. england is more dangerous but algeria tries more.
|
We're abysmal so far. Seriously bad. That's no better than the French performance last night - and at least France had the excuse that Mexico aren't a bad team. Algeria aren't anything remotely special and England are actually making them look decent. We played better againsdt the USA, and they're miles better than Algeria. England only look remotely decent when Gerrard and Rooney are connecting up but Gerrard's isolated on the left. This is just depressing.
PLEASE put Joe Cole on. |
u guys like to wackt people kick a ball
|
Joe Cole's dead man.
his common-law husband, Henry Rollins, is gonna kick yr ass! ---------------- Ontopic. when did they announce a change from Greene as the keeper? |
Quote:
@ the game's start (to the ref) same w/ algeria btw-- both changed goalies |
he went to paris
she fukced cowboys your fathe usex COKE U |
Wright-Phillips for Lennon?!?!?!
It's just gonna be more of the same. Move Gerrard behind Rooney, bring Joe Cole on, get Heskey off. FFS! |
heskey is way in the back-- you see where they just fouled him?
---ps total bullshit, carragher fouled, ref's been missing calls -- terry been asking for a yellow card the whole game |
tired old men.
|
FINISHED!
this is great for USA, because they stand right next to england in both points and goal difference BUT we've scored more goals, so if it comes down to that very fine line, we're ahead. that's of course provided we can beat algeria. we have 2 points, they have 1, they need to play to win. slovenia has to defend the lead, they've got 4 points but they could risk the 1st place or even they could risk going out if they don't win-- again by goal difference. it's all very confusing but basically still all up in the air with anybody still able to place 1st-- except for algeria, cuz even if they won, no matter who wins or ties in england/slovenia someone is getting at least 5 points. |
when we stand next to england, we should smile, so that they know who's boss and who has the better teeth.

If USA and England draw their next matches, it'll come down to goal difference as to who goes through in second place. USA have the advantage because of their better goals scored. If USA and England both win, they both qualify and first and second place will come down to goal difference. If USA and England both lose, Algeria goes through in second. The second placed team is likely to face the winner of group D in the 4th round (probably Germany); 1st place will probably face Group D's second placed team (probably either Ghana or Serbia). ... I think. |
I watched the England vs Algeria game in the pub with some friends. The place exploded after the game. The bouncers had a busy night tonight. I couldn't leave as a group of drunken thugs were kicking off outside the pub. Punches were thrown between the drunken thugs and the bouncers which resulted in the bouncers backing into the pub and locking the entrance doors! Eventually a police van arrived with coppers throwing several of the drunken thugs into the back of it. The pouring rain kind of added an apt ambience to the whole shebang.
|
after watching tonight's game i'm inclined to think it will be Slovenia and the USA that will progress to the next stage.
|
I still think England should be able to make it to the next round, solely based on the players they have, but it's not getting any easier from here. They MUST win their last game now, plus after Ferdinand and King they won't have Carragher either at centre back.
England looked so lifeless today, as if they didn't really want to be there. I really have the impression that there's something fundamentally wrong in the squad. Bad atmosphere, discontent, Terry fucking someone's wife, something like that.... read all about it in The Sun and News of the World next week! |

I've just designed a new Nike commercial:

Predictably, the UK media are going mental about it. Not without good reason, really. Drawing against a lesser side is one thing (it happens) but you're right, they were completely lifeless. Capello refuses to let Gerrard play behind Rooney while appearing to not want Joe Cole anywhere near the pitch, despite the fact that A) he chose him for the squad and B) he's probably England's most creative player. Right now, Maradona seems to have a better grip on reality than Capello appears to. Something radical is gonna have to change if they want to beat Slovenia, and even if they do qualify out of the group stage, I can't see them getting any further than the first knockout stage. One thing's for sure though, if the don't qualify (and I really think that's a distinct possibility now) Capello and the team will be absolutely crucified once they get back to the UK. EDIT: That youtube thing is classic. Rooney's getting slaughtered by the media for that too. |
