I can't just drop a CD in my mail box with an address on the CD can I?

(Thanks Pookie for offering to take my mix CD and put it on a tape, but I think I might do that next time, I am way to busy lately)

sonicl 08.19.2006 01:55 AM

Join us, Kegmama, join us!

The close date for posting your tape to Pookie is 31 August, but PM him to let him know that you're taking part and to get full details.

I hope I get your tape!

Is it too late?! I might be up for it...

You've got until August 31st to do it. You just need to let me know when it's been sent and anybody who has told me, or who's tape I've received, will be included. See the first post in this thread of details of what to include.

Literally just a CD? With the address written in permanent marker on the CD and no packaging? I wouldn't. I'd rate the chances of it arriving at 50% and the chances of it arriving AND being usable at 20%.

You're up early for a Saturday. I'm working, that's my excuse, are you doing something exciting today?

Alex's Trip 08.19.2006 02:03 AM

I was kidding. (to Sonicl)

No, I'm afraid I just always wake very early. I've been using the time to catalogue my music collection before I pack it up to go into storage for a while.

I am doing something nice later, I'm meeting friends for lunch in Marlow.

I've listened to one so far and it's a corker.

thanks spookie!

Pookie 08.19.2006 06:54 AM

I suppose the listening to them in order was a bit of a giveaway.

huoxito 08.19.2006 08:35 AM

hi dudes,

i've got a major problem...

yesterday i went to mail the tape, but the recepcionist told the i could only send the tape in box packages otherwise the tape would rip the common envelope...

And on box packages i would spend five times more than on commmon envelopes (somethig like 35 reais), so unfortunately i can't afford it now. To send in envelopes i must find a special kind of envelope that won't rip with the tape inside. I'll for these envolopes during this week but i'm afraid i may not find it.

I was also wondering how you guys send your tapes. Envelopes or boxs? Isn't mailing on box just a little tape too much more expensive than on envelopes where you live?

did you get my problem?

I hope i can side mine...

Pookie 08.19.2006 08:39 AM

Most people have been sending them in padded envelopes. They don't cost much here, certainly less than £1 (35 Reais, that's about £8!!!).

huoxito 08.19.2006 10:02 AM

yes Real is very underated ... 1 £ = 3,14 reais...

Everyneurotic 08.19.2006 01:37 PM

if you can't find a padded envelope, get a big envelope and some bubble wrapper and then put the bubble wrapper so it covers the whole envelope from the inside.

that's what i always do and it has never failed me, i never find padded envelopes so i have to make my own like that.

Hip Priest 08.19.2006 02:27 PM

It's a good idea to re-use padded envelopes that you recieve in the post. You can buy pads of sticky labels that cover up the original address.

My parcel is ready to post, so I'll be sending it Monday morning.

Danny Himself 08.19.2006 02:46 PM

You bastards started without me. I will make one tomorrow, probably.

I work with someone from Brasil and she misses it terribly, I think. It sounds too hot for my taste, but I'd rather like to see all the wildlife. And drink lots of cachaça in the proper setting.

Hip Priest 08.20.2006 05:33 AM

I'm putting these comments in this thread because I can't be bothered making a new one, and it relates to my mixtape tracklisting: sometimes my printer workd fine, but sometimes nthing happens - it's as if the document or whatever is taking forever to start printing. But if the computer is shut down, the next time it's switched on the printjob commences instantly, and I get my printout. Weird.

There's some good stuff on this tape, and one half of the best EP ever released. Nice.

I'm just going to make a minor alteration to the artwork.

Posting the tape tomorrow morning.

Love.

Toilet & Bowels 08.20.2006 09:39 AM

my dad married a brazilian woman a few months ago.

Hip Priest 08.20.2006 06:06 PM

I may well put a Brasilian samba band on tape 3.

Danny Himself 08.20.2006 07:11 PM

I will work on the tape tomorrow. I slept until 4pm today.

huoxito 08.20.2006 07:58 PM

Hi nice to read that you have a brazilian near you. Brazil is an intriguing, rich and different country.

And hey 'touch me i'm sick' Are you brazilian?

Пятхъдесят Шест 08.20.2006 07:59 PM

Huoxito, have you found a bubble wrap envelope yet?

Hip Priest 08.21.2006 08:07 AM

My tape was posted this morning.

Pookie: I got the printer working, so forget everything I said.

gmku 08.21.2006 09:32 AM

Mine's done. I'm making the art today and will try to post when I can scrape up the coin. Possibly later this week.

Think classic rock meets post-punk on a summer picnic in Central Park.

Toilet & Bowels 08.21.2006 10:19 AM

i've been having trouble with my cassette recorder. should still be able to do it though.

huoxito 08.21.2006 10:21 AM

I find one bubble wrap envelope but it was too big... tomorrow i'll look for it in other stores.

These envelopes are quite difficult to find here.

If you can manage to find one this time, then you can just re-use the
ones I send you.

truncated 08.21.2006 06:09 PM

When again do you need these posted by? I'm held hostage in the hospital for a few days, and they make the evil eye at any technology related to music.

Hip Priest 08.21.2006 06:11 PM

Pookie needs them by the end of August, I think.

I do hope you're doing OK, truncated.

Pookie 08.21.2006 06:12 PM

Posted by 31st August.

Hip Priest 08.21.2006 06:14 PM

Good news for UK boardies is that the new postal pricing system means that some prices are now cheaper, which is a shock. I posted a two-tape parcel and a four cd parcel today. They have been costing around 90p each, but today's was 65p each! That's enough saved, per parcel, for two and a half packets of Space Raiders.

Pookie 08.21.2006 07:10 PM

After about five attempts, I've got a tracklist for side one.

I've decided on one genre for side one, and another for side two.

I think somebody will either love or hate it.

I might even attempt some proper artwork this time.

Hip Priest 08.22.2006 01:02 PM

My cut 'n' paste artwork this time is definitely superior to my cut 'n' paste artwork last time, which was rather shoddy.

PAULYBEE2656 08.22.2006 01:29 PM

got mine done, printing off artwork and tracklisting now, listening to it again, i like it so that must be a good sign. ill post it to the pookman tomorrow morn...............

Glice 08.22.2006 03:51 PM

My mix tape is finished, but I'm worried that it's not as good as the first one. But I will post it presently.

pokkeherrie 08.22.2006 04:04 PM

i haven't started yet.
9 more days... just maaaybe it's going to work. tried playing a tape the other week but it got eaten (more like devoured actually!) by the tape deck.

Pookie 08.22.2006 06:41 PM

They're starting to roll in now:

Porkmarras
sonicl
Пятхъдесят Шест
Hip Priest

Thanks HP for the bonus tape. I'm looking forward to listening to it.

Hip Priest 08.22.2006 06:43 PM

Glad it all arrived safely.

(the writing on the spine is in the 'MArk E Smith Handwriting' font, by the way)

Пятхъдесят Шест 08.22.2006 07:05 PM

I wonder if there is a program online that will format to an exact size, the inlay for cassettes. Google is calling.
