Rob Instigator 07.25.2008 01:13 PM

GENERIC is the only word to describe lil wayne's music and rhymes.

Geto Boys for the win!

noisereductions 07.25.2008 01:18 PM

#1. Geto boys were amazing. Yes.
#2. There is absolutely nothing generic about Lil Wayne's style rhymes. You know not of what you speak.

atsonicpark 07.25.2008 01:23 PM

fudge tunnel - creep diets

$2

Rob Instigator 07.25.2008 01:43 PM

yeah, cuz Lollipop is genius shit, never been written before, never been rapped before right? right?

Okay, lil mama had a swag like mine
Even wear her hair down her back like mine
I make her feel right when its wrong like lyin
Man, she ain never had a love like mine
N' man I aint never seen a *** like hers
And that pussy in my mouth had me at a loss fo words
Told her to back it up like erp erp
And make that *** jump like shczerp shczerp
And thats when she said I lo-lo-look like a lollipop
( oh yeah I like that )
She said I lo-lo-look like a lollipop
( oh yeah I like that )
She said I lo-lo-look like a lollipop
( oh yeah I like that )
Shawty I lo-lo-lookin like a lollipop
( oh yeah I like that )

notice how he rhymes MINE with MINE and then MINE again? fucking lame generic shit man.

noisereductions 07.25.2008 01:44 PM

So what you're saying, Rob, is that you're basing your opinion on his entire body of work (nine solo albums, 4 collabs, and uncountable mixtapes) on one song. OK, I see then.

atsonicpark 07.25.2008 01:57 PM

i don't like lil wayne.

but he is probably the most interesting (and ONE OF the most creative) person in rap.

noisereductions 07.25.2008 02:00 PM

Agreed. He's by far the most interesting rapper that's actively releasing material right now. As far as weirdness goes, he touches upon levels that Kool Keith hit before his decline. Wayne seems to have picked up where MF Doom (wherever he may be right now) left off, and what's interesting is that by tossing the mass public a bone (like, say "Lollipop") he's managed to project far more unique, absurd and sometimes challenging music to a public that would normally overlook something like that.

Mostly Harmless 07.25.2008 02:25 PM

Two albums:
!!!- Myth Takes
Nick Drake- Pink Moon

noisereductions 07.25.2008 02:26 PM

I didn't like MYTH TAKES even close to as much as LOUDEN UP NOW. Yr thoughts?

Myth Takes was my first !!! album so I wasn't sure what to expect, but based on my first listen I didn't like it all that much. The first two songs were really promising, but it was downhill from there.
Dance music definitely isn't my thing.
I am glad to know it could get better. And I'll definitely let you in on my thoughts after I pick up Louden Up Now.

Aside: That was such a funny line in Must Be the Moon:

-Girl, let me call you back
-Why?
-Because it's all beginning to sound like a rap.

Yeah definitely. Although, I tend to listen to Myth Takes more now because it's better background music. Louden Up is way better in general, but it's more something I would play for a reason.

Death & the Maiden 07.26.2008 02:42 AM

I ordered Emperor's In the Nightside Eclipse a few days ago.

This Is Not Here 07.26.2008 06:08 AM

Primal Scream - Beautiful Future CD
Live Skull - Positraction LP

mil_pl 07.26.2008 06:11 AM

i don't know if anobody here even like Blur, but Think Tank is an awesome album one of their best, my fav maybe. I've just bought it.

noisereductions 07.26.2008 06:58 PM

I used to be super into Blur. Wasnt crazy about THINK TANK, mostly cuz I really liked Graham's work and he was only on one track. BUT, I really still like BLUR, 13, and MODERN LIFE IS RUBBISH.

noisereductions 07.26.2008 06:59 PM

-Melvins NUDE WITH BOOTS
-Sonic Youth SYR8

viewtiful_alan 07.26.2008 07:00 PM

Good buys.
Nude with boots was pretty cool.

leakyheadboy 07.27.2008 05:31 PM

Tis good but has fewer cracking tunes than its little brother

noisereductions 07.27.2008 06:55 PM

Atlas Sound - Another Bedroom EP

viewtiful_alan 07.27.2008 10:46 PM

On sale at starbucks for 7.95, I'd wanted it for a while so I just picked it up.
Haven't listened to it yet. Any good?

noisereductions 07.28.2008 07:28 AM

Hmm.. $8 is a good price.

batreleaser 07.28.2008 07:57 AM

I know right? Or is that a comment on the quality of the album.
Haha when starbucks musical oversaturation fails, we benefit.. (if they happen to have anything cool, which they fequently don't)

noisereductions 07.28.2008 01:36 PM

No a comment on a good sale price. I noticed that Sbucks is having a summer sale on their cd's. Just saying.

viewtiful_alan 07.28.2008 04:09 PM

Oh Iwasn't getting up in arms or anything, I was just making a similar comment myself XD
Unfortuanatley I can't find and pick up hafs at my starbucks

acousticrock87 07.28.2008 04:13 PM

Starbucks has some good CDs at times, but they're always so fucking expensive. I would buy a lot of stuff there if it was $8.

viewtiful_alan 07.28.2008 11:38 PM

Fan-fucking-tastic.

And I just pre-ordered this one earlier this afternoon:

Boris/Merzbow - Rock Dream (The 3LP version. I saw it and it was just so gorgeous I couldn't not.)

Wilco - A Ghost is Born

noisereductions 07.29.2008 07:31 AM

viewtiful, the Nas is GOOD? I've heard such disapointing things about it that I decided NOT to check it out... convince me it's worth my ears' time.

I got this on pre order when it came out (on cd cos the vinyl want out for a while) and i was real impressed by merzbow's restraint... its a dang good album

The Earl Of Slander 07.29.2008 09:10 AM

I've only listened to the first three sides thus far, due to really digging the Wilco, but it seems excellent yeah. It's great to hear Boris do their thing but with Merzbow's adding that extra noisey demension.
